What are you reading?

Re: What are you reading?

Loved Twilight.

Inheritence of Loss I found to be quite morbid actually.
Or maybe its me because I've so completely over done sad south asian literature.

Re: What are you reading?

^ I totally get you, I got the bug from my niece who happens to be in 8th grade!!!!!! Edward Cullen = fictional AND so-not-real... BUT oh-so-desirable... LOL... I was trying to tell my lil one how it'd be impossible to find a guy like that, so don't build-up your expectations... haha

I have been looking for some interesting reads, Things I've Kept Silent About sounds good... hmmm.. lets see if I can get a hold on it... Thanks :)

Have you read Kartography? I forget the author's name... Camilla something I guess..

Re: What are you reading?

^Kamila Shamsie, not Camilla:)

Funny you mentioned that book.
I have it on my shelf and just last night I was contemplating if I should pick that up next.

Didn't but I will now that you've recommended it.

Salam...nearly finished reading Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho, fiction book. Nice narration. Alchemist is also good by Paulo.

Also I have just started reading a new book by Pakistani authors. The title is I Know Who You Are! by** Mariam and Fatima Masood**. My friend told me about this book, who ordered it through Olympia Publishers in Uk.
The genre is fiction/personal development.

Actually found the blurb and concept very interesting and unique. Also its by young Pakistani twin sisters, so a must read.
We need to encourage our country's authors. Do see their website.

The first few pages have already gripped me! Pakistani tujhay salam!

regards

Just got done reading Massive.

Currently reading Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 4.

Will be reading Lock and Key, next.

And just received Reading Lolita in Tehran in the mail today.

Waiting to receive Things I've Kept Silent About.

And after reading all of the above books, I plan to get the Desi bestseller: *The Inheritance of Loss.
*

LOOL....I read a lot....and my reading schedule is sufficiently booked!

Re: What are you reading?

I started "The Motorcycle Diaries", an autobiographical book by Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, and i realised auto/biographies are NOT my things.
and yes, it lies unfinished.

^ What did u think of it? I haven't started reading my copy yet..

Re: What are you reading?

I loved Three Cups of Tea (Greg Mortenson/David Oliver Relin) - I've been recommending it to anyone and everyone. I know many others on GS have read this book - but it is truly uplifting and worth the time.

On the flip side, I'm in the middle of reading An Imperfect Offering - Humanitarian Action for the 21st Century (James Orbinski) - it is a pretty tough read. It makes me question the human condition and recognize how fortunate I am for what I have - my prayers have changed as a direct result of this book and I express my gratitude in each of my prayers.

Prisoner of Tehran (Marina Nemat) was a decent read - but no where near as compelling as Three Cups of Tea.

On a lighter note, I've recently read Harlan Coben's, Just One Look, The Woods and Hold Tight - I enjoyed all three.

Re: What are you reading?

Just finished reading The Miniaturist by Kunal Basu. Its very informative set in the times of the Emperor Akbar...but got a bit disgusting in places.
