biography of two writers (Ghalib and Manto) covered in one novel. It covers their personal and professional lives. There is no story line as such. But it got lots and lots of stories beside Ghalib and manto's life. It got references to Shams Tabraiz and Rumi. It refers to Urdu's famous daastan (tale) masthnavi sehr ul bayan.. It summarises famous sufi book 'Conference of the birds'... and I'm still on page 150 of this 500+ pages book.
Re: What are you reading?

You will enjoy it as it got many verses of Ghalib and Mir with English translations. Though the book is in English, but they referred various verses in Urdu text (with English translation). You might need help of your mom to read verses written in Urdu.

Re: What are you reading?
To my surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series, especially Clockwork Princess. It is set in Victorian London and it has a heartbreaking love triangle.. a definite page turner. ![]()
If you like books with vampires, werewolves, demons and stuff you should give the Clockwork series a shot.
Goodreads:
Re: What are you reading?
I'm a huge fan of historical fiction, and currently I'm reading:
Empress, by Shan Sa - It's a fictional account based on the real life story and events of China's first and only female emperor.
To Defy a King, by Elizabeth Chadwick - An historical fiction set in the medieval era, and follows the life of a princess and her family, and the tyranny of the present king.
The Painter's Apprentice, by Charlotte Betts - Set in the late 17th century during political unrest, it follows the tale of a young artist as she takes on the profession of painting, and must make the choice between her profession and personal life.
I've also recently read The Brewer's Tale by Karen Brooks, and it was a fantastic novel set in the medieval era.

Re: What are you reading?
Started reading **‘**Red Earth and Pouring Rain’ by Vikram Chandra. How come a book be such a drag. A book written in favour of story has no story at all. Just left it after 75 pages. Thank God didn’t buy it for Rs 900. Got it from Readers club and will return them.
Now reading" God’s Philosophers: How the Medieval World Laid the Foundations of Modern Science’
