Re: What are the reasons behind Shia Genocide in Balochistan?
Shia Hazara, Pashtuns, Punjabis and so on.. No one is really safe in Balochistan. Strange enough, the Zikris (an Islamic sect in Balochistan, who are considered to be infidels like Ahmadis) aren't targeted by anyone. Hmmm...
“Balochistan comes first. Everything else comes next,” Muhammad Aslam said. “We Baloch are liberal and secular. We prioritise our culture and heritage rather than other things,” he added.
Re: What are the reasons behind Shia Genocide in Balochistan?
one question, before we continue. Or to see if we can continue talking.
Do you know more powerful,l more organized countries can F#$% smaller country up, with out full scale war??
Give me an example, other then pakistan, if you cant, then you are NOT mature enough to poke around this topic.

The purpose of this thread is not to hear these ready made 'hidden hand' tags. The first line in OP says demographic and cultural aspects.. I just wanted to know these reasons and I think OP is quite clear in this aspect. Like I posted an article which talks about social isolation of Hazra Shia in Quetta. If you can add such information, please go ahead. I really don't want to turn this thread as 'resident Pakistani sab acha hai VS ABCD / BBCD view kuch acha nahin hai thing.

Re: What are the reasons behind Shia Genocide in Balochistan?
so basically its ethnic division, which turned to sectarian conflict?
But I can understand the point if the conflict is only with Hazara living in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan, what about Zaireen who also travel from Sindh and got killed on their way in Balochistan?
Dont know. Mastung is insurgency-hit area, its here and chaghai where mostly zaireen are targeted. Some sunni balochs of Iran are said to involved in killing of shias, the name of organization is jundullah which is sectarian as well as separatist.
Re: What are the reasons behind Shia Genocide in Balochistan?
Few things that comes to mind
Iranian posecution of sunnis may have a direct impact, as shia here are easier targets and killers can get ways easily.
Sunni killings are not reported in media like shia killings.
Proxy war of gulf states and iran on sectarian grounds, a reason could be to keep balochistan destable and gawadar in effective.
Groups like LeJ/Jundallah are never destroyed completely so that they can be usd to create a new enemy any time.
What hazaras did previously , i have heard so many stories of hazars killing sunnis in quetta, not from madressa students but from office collaagues there.
Re: What are the reasons behind Shia Genocide in Balochistan?
How can one distinguish if certain person is shia or sunni?
Isolation of one group make it prominent like mentioned in article about 'Hazaras in Quetta'. Otherwise, participation in rituals and vehicles destined for Iran via Balochistan are easily distinguishable.

So, its about tribal culture of revenge? You once killed our people or your people are killing our people in some other part of the world, so get this as 'tit for tat'.
Re: What are the reasons behind Shia Genocide in Balochistan?
^ I don't understand this analogy too. Iran is killing Baloch based upon their ethnicity (nothing to do with sect per se). Situation is the same in Pakistan, the Baloch are persecuted although they are Sunnis in a Sunni majority state. How can one kill Hazaras (Shias) by alleging that they are Iranians? Another thing I can't understand is that why the state is hesitant to take action against the sectarian groups in the province? Is this the blowback of Pakistan-US proxy war in Iran (in the shape of Jundullah)? The state has its own goals Shia killing is just the collateral damage.
