Yes, but it’s not islamic as you put it. The Islamic way doesn’t require permission. They don’t need a valid reason either. You can put anything in a contract but then it’s just what it is, a contract.

If the man is a good muslim he should try his best not to harm his wife as he loves and respects her ;therefore personally i don’t believe its just a contract which is preventing a man taking another wife but many other factors as well. Personally im not against men marrying up to 4 wives, but i have seen situations where it has worked which is probably why.
