What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

What is the Urdu for “You are a beautiful couple” or “I wish you a lifetime of happiness” or whatever it is one is supposed to say on the occasion of someone’s mangni or shadi? What are some of the standard blessings?

Re: What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

jori salamat rahay

Re: What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

what is phoolon ...you want them to become fat ?

btw, word is phoolo

and its pooto phalo .. means be blessed with a son .. poot means son in hindi ..

Re: What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

NJ kee boltee band ho ga'yee ..

Re: What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

poluoun phalo - means to be happy and multiply (I guess becoming fat is a requirement)

I haven't heard of pooto phalo

Re: What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

:smack: its pooton (with flat T sound as in Talwar)

and if it was phooloun as you are saying that it would be PHOOLO PHALO .. there is no N at the end of PHOOLO ..

but its Pooton .. means SONS ..

Re: What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

Re: What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

Allah buri nazar say bachaye.

Mashallah kitnay jaj (sp?) rahay ho. (you look so good together I think?)

Re: What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

Why is it jori? Wouldn't it be jore?

Re: What are some traditional sayings for weddings?

JoRee ,, as a pair .. a couple ..

:cb: :rotfl:

OK, I want to get this mahavira straight, I like the sound of it: Can somebody tell me truly what it is?..

The phooto/phalo one dua doesn't work at mangnis - it's too early to tell them to go forth and multiply. You'll get dirty looks from the parents...:p

But doesn't jora also mean couple?
