So, now the latest technique is cutting off a female’s feet???
I’ve cut/paste the story (despite being anti-cut/paste, only because its short).
This is utterly despicable.
ISLAMABAD: A man and some of his relatives chopped off his wife’s feet after accusing her of being promiscuous, police said on Saturday. The woman survived the gruesome attack, the latest in a wave of assaults that have raised international concern about the plight of women in Pakistan, particularly in rural areas.
“It is a shameful act of cruelty against a woman and we are taking it seriously,” said Talat Ali, a senior police official in Punjab. “Those who have carried out this crime will not be spared.” The 32-year-old woman told police her feet were chopped off on June 24 by her husband, her father-in-law, a brother-in-law and two others after they accused her of “bad character”.
The woman in the latest incident had separated from her husband but had gone to his family’s house to see her daughter, police said. Her father-in-law chained her up and that night he and the others took her to a river bed on the edge of their village of Mohammadpur and cut off her feet. Two days later her parents reported her missing and police raided the house, found her and took her to hospital, where she remains. “No one can be allowed to treat a woman in this manner no matter what the charges against her,” Ali said. “There is no evidence that she was of bad character.”
its not an issue that is happening 'these days'. its happened for a very long time amid a very illerate population. this is their culture, of that segment of the population, and its not going to change overnight.
what is heartening, these days, is that more and more of it gets media coverage and more censure, and atleast token government action, in response to pressure from the average pakistani who is mortified by it. hopefully that will serve to influence the norms prevailing in Pakistan, and maybe over generations will cause a reduction in this ingrained idiocy.
Well, our police is competent enough to catch such culprits or even in some cases they know in advance whats going to be wrong !!!
But it is not the question of Police the problem lies in system as a whole, "Chaudry", "Waderas" e.t.c. If you are a person in Pakistan having some Political, Social Influence then its not a problem to commit a crime...
Worst scenario is even when you can buy "Judges"
As a whole we have to change a lot to get whole situation properly, but keeping in mind not all are wrongs, still there is a number of persons trying to do their best keeping themself in stream of Culprits!!!
This is a terrible crime and the perpetrators need to be punished for their actions, I find it especially horrific and disgusting because the poor women will be without the need to buy shoes!
these TYPE of things happen every where Bad Boy, not just the Punjab and its not limited to Pakistan... happens in India, all over africa , China , Middle East and also in Western countries but because the laws against being nasty to others are upheld a little more there people SOMETIMES think twice about doing thes type of things to others.
