what are jinns?

While arguing (so called discussions) in another thread UTD raised a point - we all kept talking if this earthquake in Pakistan was a ‘punishment’ for our (human) sins, UTD wondered whether it could’ve been a punishment for jinns and humans suffered collateral damage.

My response was that jinns are not ‘physical’, what I meant was that they are not “solids” or “liquid”… rather gaseous (hint: made from fire).

Along came PakistaniAbroad and said that they are “physical”, I’m not too sure what he exactly meant but didn’t want to derail the other thread. Sometime ago an Ahmadi/Qadiani guppy mentioned that jinns could possibly be micro-organism, but I don’t know if he was presenting Ahmadi/Qadiani view or was it his personal view.

My understanding is that jinns are made from fire (probably “using” fire) because Allah swt in Quran mentioned the words of Iblees/Shaitan when he refused to bow to Hazrat Adam AS which mean that Shaitan/Iblees is made from fire and he used to be a normal jinn long before he was asked to bow…

Lets hear what is your “understanding” of the creature: jinn and basis of your knowledge.

PS: Please refrain from any sect/group bashing, your views if backed by a reference from Quran/Hadith will be appreciated.

Re: what are jinns?

I have typed up my islamic class notes on Jinns, in the cafe…below is the Link.

It gives you the A-Z on Jinns…if you take the time to read it.

Re: what are jinns?

i dont wanna say that i dont believe in jinns just cuz i've never seen them but i really havent, all i've heard is stories of them interacting with someone's friends dad or someone's mom's sister's daughter's friend. also according to islamic beliefs, what is the purpose of jinn's existence and how does this purpose relate to humans and the fact that we cant "usually" see them but are required to believe in their existence per quranic ayahs.

Captain :bummer:

Fly kartay huye kya nazar aa gaya???

About jinns, I dont know. All I know is that I saw some weird creature which changed its’ form into different things (large, small, white smoke like stuff, invisible). I thought it was a jinn cz that’s the only weird creature we’ve heard about on earth. What else could it be?

Re: what are jinns?

Crescent, thanks for your link but it was targetted for “cafe” audience it contains lots of comedy comments, it would be nice if you can paste here without any funny/comedy in it. Thanks though :k:

Re: what are jinns?

lolz@ comedy comments hehe…i love cafe!

TNWB? elaborate please?

Re: what are jinns?

All I know is that of all the supernatural entities, Jinns are the only one that are mentioned in Quran...so I believe I believe.

Re: what are jinns?

:bummer:

Not less than 5 times I have repeated the whole story over and over again on gupshup in different threads. Please search the history naa :bummer:

In short, I saw a weird creature which I think was jinn. What else could it be? Not spirit of some dead man, right? I also saw ‘reflections’ of three small kids. ‘Reflection’ cz it was dark and those ‘things’ running around over the place were the size of 4/5 year old kids. So… I dont know what those were. I was not scared then but when I woke up in the morning, for six months I could not gather the courage to go alone to the terrace. And and and… whenever I go home, I make sure to take someone with me upstairs. I just cant stand alone in the silence of that bedroom which was supposed to be mine. And it was not an old house. I mean you would think these strange things happen in the old houses but it was not an old house.

Re: what are jinns?

FAYAX: I guess all "Muslims" believe in jinns, but what is your understaning of jinns regarding their appearance, body nature etc?

Re: what are jinns?

:( i wanna know the whole story....

what thread should i search for?

Re: what are jinns?

^ Okay now this is strange. I tried to search the history of all the posts by me but I only see some recent posts but not all. So, where has the history of my posts disappeared? How can I find it? I think this post of mine belongs in feedback but should I open a new thread in feedback for this?

Re: what are jinns?

^^ hmmmmm.....

yeah open one in feedback

Re: what are jinns?

^^ or just tell me the story again :)

Re: what are jinns?

Never seen one, but from all I have heard all my life, I understand that their appearance can change from human like to shaitan like. I guess they could take any form. In most cases it seems like people talk to them but when they are talking to them , I dont see anything. Kinda seems crazy.

The only experience I had and it was vouched by my grandmother, who since has passed away was a the apperance of an old man all white and white beard with Tasbeeh in his hand. It scared me but did me no harm. So in my mind, when I think of a Jinn, thats the physical appearnace I give it.

Re: what are jinns?

I believe that Insaan is 'ashraful makhlooqaat'. So even if Jins exist as the way most of the people think, they are lower species to us.

Re: what are jinns?

:bummer:

I swear I tried typing. I had just wrote one para and it got too irritating cz it is the same old stuff I’ve typed before. Let them answer me in the feedback. I’ll provide you the links.

Re: what are jinns?

SO you are saying that appearance wise they do not/ or probably cannot look like humans?

Re: what are jinns?

^yes, they can

Re: what are jinns?

As far as I know they are another race. There are bad ones and good ones just like there are bad humans and good humans. Thay worship Allah. They will go to heaven or hell. They have families. They live in our houses. We just cant see them. They are another race. Jinns.
