Okay stupid technical/semantic question (yes 3rd one in one day) but what exactly is a first generation paki? My parents are immigrants and i was born/raised here. What is the proper definition, if one exists, of a “first generation/second generation” Paki-american?

I don’t think she can say “second generation of Pakistani” based on the info that her parents immigrated out of Pakistan. She is second generation American (of Pakistani origin). If her parents had immigrated to Pakistan and she was born in Pakistan then she’d become 2nd generation Pakistani… IMHO

I think that’s wrong. “1st generation American” means the first generation born in America who obtains US citizenship by being born here. The parents are Pakistani immigrants. The offspring is first generation American.
