I wouldn't call it a classic when he scores his runs at about 50% strike rate whereas his partner is going all guns blazing at around 100%. He never up'ed the ante and that bothered me. He should have really lifted his scoring rate after India reached 500. But he was more interested in staying at the pitch for a double century. I am a lil disappointed. I think he should have gotten his double by playing a lil faster after tea.

I disagree. There was no need to be agressive.Team anyway was scoring around 4/over.Good thing was that he was middeling every ball and he never gave any chance and didnt look like getting out.
I don't get your philosophy. If team has scored over 500 runs with only 4 wkts down and you know that declaration is about to come then why block?. He should have enough confidence in himself that he can 'dictate' the situation. He is the best batsman in the world against a numbed bowling attack in their 140th over. If the Master Blaster can't attack such depleted bowling then I wonder about his true 'genius'. I seriously do. Great players take the initiative and run with it NOT let things come to bat.
he did give a chance. Saqi dropped him on 176 according to the BBC report:
**Save for a dropped return catch off Saqlain Mushtaq’s bowling when on 176, he did not look like getting out, and he is now within one century of countryman Sunil Gavaskar’s all-time Test record of 34. **
this is not to take anything away from him. it was a very good knock regardless. chances that are put down are a discredit to the bowling side rather than the batsman who benefits.
Both Dravid and Sachin are pathetic. Dravid for not giving sachin the msg that the declaration is coming, and sachin for blocking too much. one day dravid is going to be on 199 and sachin will run him out.:o

I am sure they must have had communication in whatever the breaks there were (tea, drinks, lunch etc.) and Tendulkar himself is an accomplished batsman, he should've known all about that.

Well tendu said in the interview that he knew it was around the corner but it took him by surprise. I suppose he thought it would wait till he got his 200. his fault i guess, but it wouldn't have hurt dravid to tell him 'ok you've got 2 overs to finish so hurry'.

THank god Sachin is not married to you. Nahi to his whole life would be spent taking revenge. :)
i was soo disappointed... atleast ganguly or dravid whoever made this decision they could just wait for tendulker to complete his century..common it was only 6 runs.. or they could just give tenduulker a signal ke we are gonan declare the inning in 1 or 2 overs.. just complete your double century...:(
