There was a reason why Edhi was coming to USA

DL is forgeting that Edhi foundation has an office in New york and huge amount of contribution comes from the "LOSER" pakistanis who are living in USA. In fact they probably contribute more than maybe Pakistani's inside Pakistan.

Another point is ... USA homeland security works for USA, not for Pakistani digintaries.

If I am going to Pakistan, I am ready to follow their laws and protocols and wont expect same privilages that a Pakistani gets cause I am technically no longer a Pakistan citizen.

If that means that I have to go to local police station to report my where abouts every 1 week, I will do that.

Edhi sahab had to go through what almost everyone goes through at the airport.

I see no big deal ...

divine yaar aap sunee suanee baton pe mat jao. Aisa karo ke aik chakkar lagao amreeka ka. In salon ne agar aapko third class paki samajh kar airport pe nanga kar diya tau phir yahan aa kar hamein report karna kuch saboot ke saath. Mujh ko yaqeen hai aisa yahan kuch nahee hota, par aap try kar ke tassallee kar lo.

Just to add some more perspective, today the spokesman of Government of Pakistan also addressed the issue of mistreatment of Mr Edhi in the US. Govt of Pakistan has launched a complaint. Not sure what will come out of it; and what grounds GOP is complaining about. I think it has more to do with the prolonged interrogation by USCIS at the airport (green card notwithstanding); when Mr Edhi, by all accounts is an internationally acknowledged social worker.

This issue was covered on Geo tv's news and other news channels.

While DL’s bias against desis living in the U.S is sickening and his bigotry and generalization against all pakis abominable, I happen to agree that U.S security checks during immigration at port-of-entry have blown out of proportion. I personally know professional, law abiding U.S Citizens (with Pakistani roots) who have been humiliated at the airport. Their pockets have been searched, wallets emptied, cell phone call logs checked, etc. Someone I know has his wife’s name stored in his cell phone as “Baigam.” He had many calls to and from her in his cell phone’s recent call log. The officials questioned him on who is Baigam. This person told them it was his wife. lol. They actually made a call and the wife picked up the phone from outside. Another person I know had a small piece of paper with a friend’s name and number written in Urdu. They had to call an Arabic speaking person to come and confirm. This flapdoodle stupidity must stop at some point.

In July, hubby and I were coming in to NY from Canada, using Amtrack (word of advice… NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use Amtrak!)… anyway, so the officer who asked us to come inside was just being a major asshole. We were scared ****less that they wudn’t let us go or something, esp sine we had to catch a flight to pakistan the next day…They went through all of his stuff, another officer came to interview me as well. She would talk to my husband and in the meantime the other officer kept crying that my husband was changing his story, when he wasnt. She said that I could never be allowed back in Canada since my road visa had expired and that there woudl be serious repurcussions if i were to return. I spent choti Eid in Canada…

if the theory of the cream of teh crop staying was true, then Pakistan would be some major scientific, business and technology power.
