So I needed to pickup my son from his friends home where he went with his other friend. He gave me the address as I have GPS , so I am entering the address but GPS could not find the street, I know that this sub division is older than ours. So I tried all possible combinations but no luck. Then I thought that I should go and update the maps in GPS , but it aint so easy. They wanted me to shell out 70 bucks to buy updated maps. Why can’t they update the damn maps for free automatically if they can see my car from up above and can communicate to my GPS ?
I am not paying 70 more dollars . 
I got the driving instructions from map quest and picked up my son.
Is there any cheaper way to update those damn maps in Garmin Nuivi ?

Do you have it on your dashboard or something and watch your self going from home to work and work to home?

The sub division street that you could not find may be an exceptional example, otherwise GPS are fast becoming a must have for business or recreational needs. Mine has given service to me at the level of 99.9%

hmm, I have used TomTom & Navigon and updates was absolutely free for both the products.
As per Garmin, they offer the free update to the latest version at **RANDOM **times and to RANDOM users, you just need to wait for your luck. But if your product is like out of support, then off course Garmin wont give you the free update.
But as Raindance said most of the time it gives great accuracy, and its very seldom failure that you have seen, else you should not forget the number of times your GPS have saved you on time and fuel and off course frustration.
