There is no other who has influenced our world as much as this man has. He was an ordinary person, born to an ordinary woman, in an ordinary village, and lived most of his life in another obscure village.
He was for the most part unemployed. He preached. The only job he had ever held was that of a carpenter and he wasn’t very good at that either. He only held that job for a few months. I guess, he was fired for thinking too much and doing little. In addition to preaching, he shepherded sheep in exchange for food.
He did not teach anything new. What he did was to point once again to the old, old pathway to the spiritual life: the pathway to wisdom and spiritual power. He also questioned the way things were done.
In the end, people got mad at him, and they killed him. The two guards who nailed him to the cross fought over his Coat, the only possession he ever had.
In afamous book by an English author, Hadhrat Mohammad was the top of the 100 people who influenced the humans more than anybody else. It was not Jesus in his book. Hadhrat Umar was listed in first fifty persons as well.
In the preface of the book author says that many people will disagree with this rating but truth is that"Mohammad" was solely responsible for organizing and influencing his religious teachings while the teachings of Jesus are actually all written, organized and propagated by Saint Paul and other followers, so individually work of Jesus is more as a result of efforts of Saint Paul rather than his own.

He was THE MESSIAH, The Jesus of Nazereth. He is the most controversial person in the history but still Peace be on him. He was PRINCE OF PEACE, Messiah of Mosses, Messiah OF Israelites. Peace on that day he was born and peace on that day he died.

Though I might agree that Huzoor s.a.w. is likely to hold the title for exacting the greatest amount of impact....what's the harm in recognizing the contribution another one of OUR messenger's made?
Why do we suddenly become so defensive? Would it take anything away from any messenger by praising another? No. We are mere nobodies when it comes to recognizing the accomplishments of these great personalities.....only Allah can truly reward them. We can praise, praise and praise some more and it still wouldn't be enough.

Well, Muzna, there is no harm in pointing out to one’s greatness and I did not intent to do that. I was simply pointing out to the statement made by the topic starter about Jesus being the most influential person.
Although controversial, I would refer to famous book by christian american historian Mr Michael H Hart titled,
“The 100”.
In his opinion top 10 most influential people were these;
Muhammad
2)Newton
Jesus Christ
4)Buddha
5)Confucius
6)St. Paul
7)Ts’ailun
8)Johan Gutenberg
Referring to this book does not mean that I necessarily agree with his compiled book.
You will be totally mistaken if you think there was any defensiveness about this. This could be a very healthy discussion and exchange of different viewpoints.

I'm glad you clarified your intent....so let's talk about Jesus Christ, shall we?
What do you think of his beliefs, teachings and in general the life he lived?

I think he must have been a great guy.
His teachings are simple, easy to follow, if they are in original form.
World would be a better place if his teachings are followed well.
He led a very simple life and died very young. Did not marry and did not leave any family but has the majority of world's population following his faith and teachings.

analyze it, i read that book and if i remember correctly, the author makes one really bad mistake...he said something about the Holy Prophet (saw) being the author of the Holy Quran. Now thats totally wrong.
as for Jesus(pbuh)....he was one of Allah(swt)'s most beloved prophets but he cant be called the most influential person in history. He never preached "Christianity". His message was turned into something it wasnt.
Muslims as well as many informed non-Muslims agree on Muhammad (saw) being the most influential personality in history.

Ahmed;
largest religious group in the world today is Christian group. Aren't they? and they follow Jesus christ. Don't they?
If you are trying to say that they don't follow his teachings in the true sense but follow Saint Paul's teachings, it is acceptable to most people.**

** Well hk, thats a muslim's belief. other than muslims, follower of every other religion would obviously call Quran being created by Hadhrat Muhammad. Please don't forget that Jews and Christians dont regard Islam as a true Religion as Islam holds them.
The author of this book is christian so although he admits and appreciates Muhammad being the most influential person in history, it does not mean he automatically considers him to be a true prophet as well and Quran the holy word of God.**

Why not Ahmed? Do you not believe in Jesus as a messenger of Allah? Do you not follow his teachings?
I can understand if you disagree with some of the principles of Christianity...but on the whole did he not preach the same morals and values that Islam teaches us?
If you put all the Muslims and all the Christians that believe in Jesus and his teachings in one group....do they not form a majority?
Al-Ma'idah 5:116 And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah.?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.
