suppose an athiest follows a life standard as explained in religions, helpful, good person, never does anything wrong aganist others deliberately, only he does not beleive in god or in existance of god.
what can be his abode after death, heaven or hell?
(the fact is that athiests have not fantasised heavens/ hells for theselvres an others.)
To judge who will goto Hell or Heaven is God's job. But as to our belief, one HAS TO BELIEVE in GOD and that He is THE ONLY one, as first condition to go to Heaven.
Belief in God is not necessarily blind. When one looks around this world and spends time contemplating, move out into space and look upon the earth, the way it operates, the skies, the water, the forces of nature thath go into effect to bring a morsel of food into our mouths, the creatures, humans, animals, one cannot deny the fact that all of this has been created. There has to be God.
More than that, we accept all the historical facts, such as the undertaking of the World Wars, Alexander the great, so much so that we believe in the existence of dinosaurs based on a few fossils. How can we then deny so many prophets who proved to so many people time and again that they were from God, and they had the Divine message and that God not only exists, but rather sent the message for those who want to find it.
As a consequence, my personal (and not necessarily based on Islam) belief is that whosoever makes an effort to find the truth shall be able to find it given that he is not biased and the effort is sincere. However, if one does not want to make an effort to find God, then the question arises, how will God deal with such a person?
One must understand though, that our test in this life is also based on our circumstances we are born with as well as the effort we make in finding the truth and living by it. Therefore, one must always be looking to finding the truth, and trying their best to live by it.
