For some reasons, western nations rose above the rest of the world and found a better way of life that improved their society and economy. That made them the ideals for the rest of the world to follow, that explains the westernization in the rest of the world. The world follows them because they see them as their ideals.

As for India, they are only there to follow and not lead. They were communists when communism surrounded them, now they are “westerners”. It will not be surprising to see them stretch their eyes to look Chinese if China is next to dominate the world

India was never joined Communists nor it joined the capitalist after Independence, it created the 3rd world along with Yugoslavia, Egypt and other emerging countries. It was called NAM. India is still democratic socialist republic.
