With the world becoming more and more homogeneous, cultural lines are fading. If nothing else, then at least metropolitan cities/areas all over the world are developing more or less the same way of life- what is called ‘westernization’
Why do you think this is the case? Is British imperialism a major part of it? Would there have been ‘Easternization’ of the world today had an eastern nation like China or India been the one where the sun never set? What if Hindi had become the world’s most important/used language?
How important is the fact that most of the major inventions that shape our lives today occurred in the Western nations?
Or is today a result of a natural human inclination toward individualism, more ‘freedom’, lack of organized religion, culture, norms?
For some reasons, western nations rose above the rest of the world and found a better way of life that improved their society and economy. That made them the ideals for the rest of the world to follow, that explains the westernization in the rest of the world. The world follows them because they see them as their ideals.
As for India, they are only there to follow and not lead. They were communists when communism surrounded them, now they are "westerners". It will not be surprising to see them stretch their eyes to look Chinese if China is next to dominate the world :D
Yup you're right. But as to the specific reasons why European imperialism prevailed, there's no one specific answer. Maybe Europeans had a better developed military and politics system because of the close geography of Europe. The industrial revolution is a huge part.
I've heard that Akbar (or some Mughal) refused to adopt the printing press because it would put his royal scribes out of a job. Stuff like that probably led to the West becoming predominant.
Don't forget, the Islamic Caliphate and the West were pretty much equal for a time and then the West took off. I would guess the biggest factor was the industrial revolution.

The bold part is debatable. The civilizatons before that had all the tools to make it better life.
History is written by the conquerers too.
Yes, Briitsh Imperialism made a big difference which is still evident.
Whenever one group of people lose its principles, becomes lazy, stops thinking and become greedy/hypocrites, they lose.

India was never joined Communists nor it joined the capitalist after Independence, it created the 3rd world along with Yugoslavia, Egypt and other emerging countries. It was called NAM. India is still democratic socialist republic.
