I am working with a well-loved GS designer (that i love myself ), to create a dress for my cousin on her wedding day. We are trying to emulate the look of a white wedding dress with a train (i.e. one piece dress) but with desi kaam/embroidery and overall style. Basically a lehnga/gharara that is one piece rather than two, and has a train on the back, and will be off white with thread embroidery in blues/turquoises and silver and pearls.
I am looking to see if anyone has ever done this before and what kinds of fabrics they found best, or any advice or information anyone can offer as far as fabrics, stitching, etc.
We have been thinking to do a matte satin or raw silk with a net overlay, and either do thread embroidery on the net, or add a lace applique, and do pearl stones/silver kaam along with the thread embroidery. Itโs not meant to be a very heavy dress as far as kaam, so I donโt mind spending the money on using better fabrics.
It would be kind of like this as far as kaam layout:
the dress I wore on my bro's wedding was westeren type, off white color with red 4 inch lace and kaam on it,Kaam was very light
Fabric was slik inside and net out side,
