Minorities have to pay jizya...but like many mentioned...muslims are taxed more and additionally are required to participate in services/activities such as national defence and social services that the minorities are not required to do so...

Why stop at tax?
Muslims living in Non-Muslim countries should have separate electorates, that is if their population qualifies to get one, should not be able to hold any defense sensitive offices, including heads of state, and should not be allowed to preach.
If we are going to go that route why not be fair and balanced.

It's not true, but Islam has always taxed non muslims ( for security, protection).
Would you consider it fine. If not why not?
A muslim state is one which recognizes Muslims as citizens... Its a state based on religion after all...
So the same way a non citizen in the US wouldnt have all the benefits of being a US citizen, so a non Muslim wouldnt be consdered a citizen of a Muslim state... In this case, the non Muslims enjoyed all the benefits of living in that society but they have to pay for those benefits..
I think this is an outdated concept, but technicaly speaking, a country who's existance is based on religion, cant be blamed for treating Muslims and non Muslims differently...
Like I said though, the world has changed and basing an entire society on religion isnt something one would strive for in such a cosmopolitan world. One cant shouldnt discriminate, diversity should be welcomed, it makes life more interesting and promotes brotherly relations.

Both muslims and non-muslims ARE and WERE considered as citizens of the country.
There have been instances where Jaziya was returned to non-muslims whem muslims felt that they could no longer protect non-muslims from outer threat.
This gave a great impression over non-muslims and they actually fought side by side with muslims against outsiders.
Again the thread is started as another attempt to keep muslims on the defensive.
