How important is it to be the latest in trends and fashions for you these days?
I’m asking the question because although I desire it I know it is not practical for me as I can’t really afford all that fancy stuff right now. Who has that friend that will always have the latest most expensive clothes or accessories but then constantly complains her husband doesn’t have money.??? My friend in particular is a mom of two and recently spent some hundred bucks on a Tory butch clutch and then after had a party to go and bought such an expensive outfit just to look nice for people she doesn’t even know or who talk to her!!! She came home and was telling me how boring her event was. I think she just likes to go so she can feel like she is living the “socialite” life and be able to show off and fit in. Maybe part of it seeking some aspect of happiness shes not getting from her marriage? I am just there to listen because we have close family like ties butt I don’t get it?? I like to consider myself stylish but know what is realistic for me and if I ever have kids it will change even more but why is this trend so important these days??? I do t get it! A general convo cane up about Zara and she was trying to convince me that Zaras is reasonable pricing and forever 21 is to cheap lol. No money but yet the latest designer wears??? How important is it to you? be honest as no one knows you in the real world here.
Re: western and designer brands -how important is it to you?
Yeess...I have a "friend" who complains about being dead broke in private. But then will brag about spending $400 on a pair of very passable looking shoes when she's around people of affluence so she can feel "in". They weren't even stop-me-in-my-tracks-and-stare type shoes. You could have gotten the same thing for less than $100 or even $50. Same girl will do NOTHING but complain about how horribly busy she is with ALL of her demanding social engagements. You can't sit in the same room with her for more than ten minutes because as she speaks her head gets bigger and the room starts to shrink. Its almost like a silent competition with people around to prove "Im busy, rich and more popular" or "I know everyone you know and more"...immature. Its a huge thing these days to be connected and around the right crowd.
I don't care for impressing anyone else with labels. I like certain labels because I feel I have better luck with them. If I spend $300 on a bag, abuse it consistently for over 3 years and its just beginning to show signs of wear...I think I got my money's worth. Same with shoes and just about anything else. It could cost a lot or pennies...what matters is my personal experience with it...not anyone else's.

I think Kate Middleton is pretty stylish and she doesn’t always go for expensive brand names.
I can’t find a picture but she’s even worn a £10 sweater from Zara. So no you don’t need to spend hundreds and thousands on dresses and shoes to look stylish and elegant. Brand conscious women are uber annoying!
western and designer brands -how important is it to you?
Lots of ppl need labels to impress others. I don't really care for most of these things. I always look for value. I do splurge on a few things. I really like my iPhone Bc I use it like a workhorse. I do own other apple products Bc I get use out of them. They serve me well. On the hand I would never spend the money on Louis Vuitton bag or dorney Burke. I don't like dogs on bags. I try to steer clear from material crow that tries to outdo each other . There is a cap on how much I spend on my outfits. I do appreciate the finer things in life but value is the factor in making a purchase . Image is low on my list . At the end of the day I have to pay the bills not my so called friends.
Re: western and designer brands -how important is it to you?
I find it super annoying when people literly wear things with Brand names written 3x bold font. It just makes the person look shallow, and cheap. If you like a certain brand, good for you, but no need to wear its logo all over your damn body.
Reminds me, of a really funny thing I saw at masjid last ramadan. A Pakistani lady walked in for the last jummah, with a LV purse, Iphone, Michael Kors watch, Sana Safinas shoes, and Coach flats with logo bold all over. Lol I think she accidently stopped by the masjid, she was meant to be at a fashion show. Silly people!

I never go for brand names, I wear what I like. Here we have a store called anthropologie.... I love it but its too expensive for me at regular prices. So I go to the back of the store where the clearance section is and always find something with excellent quality at very reasonable prices (70% off).
Personally I feel you can't buy class, sometimes people buy brand names to feel better about thier insecurity, I seen my fair share of "a monkey wearing a suit"!
The only store that I have shelled out serious money is for BCBG ( only for really special occasions and forever pieces).
