I have seen too much and out of context Zardari bashing on this forum. It is now time that PPP government lead by him and Yousaf Raza Gilani should be given credit for their good work where it is due.
The following good news will help PPP to revive its popular mendate among masses.
PPP CM is an intelligent person to declare May 12 as public holiday in Sindh to avoid possible clash of MQM and ANP. Smart thinking by PPP government.
Sindh CM announces public holiday on May 12
According to DawnNews, ANP Sindh president Shahi Syed has welcomed the decision of the chief minister. The channel quoted him as saying that the party has decided to call off its strike planned for May 12.
The MQM had also announced a strike call in reaction to the ANP’s earlier decision. MQM’s Faisal Sabzwari said the Central Coordination Committee of his party was in a meeting to decide its future course of action in view of the changed scenario.
Zardari gets crucial US support for his government
But even a cursory look at President Zardari’s beaming face shows that he does not need a spin-doctor to tell the world that his Washington visit has been successful, perhaps more successful than he had expected.
As much as I hate Zardari for his corruption, I admire him for his shrewdness. Given his famous Mr. 10% image, the fact that every third person in Pakistan has atleast a second hand account of his corruption and his spending so much time in jails, no one has been able to convict him. So, either the 'establishment' did not want to convict him or he is not corrupt. I would go for the first option. He must have something up his sleeves.
I was rather releaved during and after the mumbai terrorists attacks that Zardari was handling the Pakistan side. The thought that had Nawaz Sharif (I voted for N-league) was in charge in Pakistan during that time gives me shrudders. I am sure Musharraf would have worsened the situation with his fauji brain (an oxymoron?) and tunnel vision. I admire the way Zardari eluded and confused the Indian leadership and media! Just the way Indian politicians talk smooth.
I wouldn't really give him or PPP credit for the US assistance though. Pakistan's economy has lost much more than that because of America's stupid obsession with war and the amount is rather a pittance.
Good to see May 12, observed as a holiday in Sindh. This is the day when PTI/PPP/ANP/Judicial activists were murdered by the orders of Mushararf in a show of power by the MQM to supress the lawyers movement and the deposed CJ of Pakistan to come out in Karachi.
Well said Nidden. I am agreed but I am unable to understand that why PPP leaders are not addressing to public demand. Public wanted to listen them talking against corruption. PPP have the best men in their party. PPP leaders do not belong to land mafia and killers so why rhey are not taking action agaist those. Look N$ and SS dramas.
Corruption is very complicated subject matter in Pakistan. Perhaps no one is to be considered as absolute honest in Pakistan. There are many reasons for it. Foundation of corruption was established by the dictators soon after Quaid's death. Initially very few people were corrupt. But due to no accountability for corrupt people, this cancer got deeper and deeper. Today perhaps every second person in Pakistan is corrupt in one way or the other. Unless people realize that what they are doing is morally and religiously wrong, the improvement would take centuries to correct this situation. Look at the examples of corrupt leaders mostly dictators, right after Quaid, none was ever convicted and sent to jail.
I am not defending zaradari here. But then he was in jail for 9 or 10 years without a single case was proved in the courts of Pakistan. Similarly Javed Hashmi and Yousaf Raza Gilani were sent to jail for many years without any justification. In Pakistan people only punished due to differences with rulers not due to corruption or other criminal activities. If the democratic system is allowed to continue you can expect quite a good change in this direction by successive elected governments.
.
He is someone who planted a shoe-bomb to an investor for Rs 2 crore in late 80s, its the establishment who didn’t want to indict him… don’t forget NRO.
He had agreed to send the ISI chief which army declined… so how was it his smartness to ‘confuse’ the Indian leadership

is it shrewdness???
what zardari does and how he does it is like a petty thug and there are 100's of them all around pakistan who live on corruption because system couldnt get them..
if he had been shrewd enough he would have made some mark in something as people still think of him as a thug...

Isn't he the greatest thug of all time? World-wide known as Mr. 10% and still the president of a 160 million people country? Isn't it achievement enough? Surviving the system is one thing, rising up to be in-charge of everything is another.
“We do not know anything about the Mumbai thing”
“We are ourselves victim of terrorism”
“They are stateless actors”
“Kasab might be a Pakistani, we will investigate”
“Kasab is a pakistani but went to the ‘stateless actors’”
“The terrorist organisations are physically in Pakistan but out of our control”
“We might investigate mumbai attack, give us evidence”
“We have received the evidence, will investigate”
“We investigated, but need more answers from India”
“Hey, we’ve got our own problems… would you guys keep quiet?”
Multiply each statement by a week and we got all the time we wanted to beg and plead to USA and Saudia.

Corruption was a part of British rule in India, They left a corrupt police, revenue deptt and contractor system even in Indian army also. But now the time has come and people are now aware of the losses. The thing we need only a NRO for all and no further corruprion. It is just possible now.
