Welcoming 2011

As we get ready to step into the new decade , on behalf of the Career and Academics Team , I wish you all a very happy and a prosperous new year.

So , what are your aspirations for this year? From education perspective, career wise, skill perspective, progression and development perspective, employment perspective ..

Re: Welcoming 2011

To share my thoughts with you all .. I am looking at developing an alternative skill this year .. I dont know yet what it is , but I want it to be in a business area that is considerably new and has the potential to grow in the new decade …

I felt the need for this last year .. when recession hit us … recession or slow economy does hit us once in a decade .. so why not be prepared for the next bubble burst :naak: …

Re: Welcoming 2011

Happy New Yaer to all!
I want to work on a masters program and inshahAllah complete the certification course that I started started last year. I want to learn more about handling and working with children with special learning needs in a main stream classroom.

Re: Welcoming 2011

Happy New Year to All...

My takeaways from 2010:

  1. The ideas and goals that make you nervous are the ones that are really worth striving for.
  2. If you keep at it, things have a tendency of falling into place eventually... epiphanies and aha moments don't just happen out of nowhere.
  3. Lateral thinking is often more fruitful than logical/analytical thinking... it takes significantly more time, but it can help provoke, challenge, and substantiate new ideas that are outside the realm of predefined frameworks.

My objectives for 2011 - inshaAllah:

  1. Publish one or two peer-reviewed articles every quarter.
  2. Get started on writing my book and seek/negotiate a publisher.
  3. Find a visiting fellowship opportunity for 2012.

Re: Welcoming 2011

LC , you seem so organized mashallah ...

Re: Welcoming 2011

^ organized? :hehe: far from it actually… hence my nick  … but I’ve sort of learned to “adapt”, and to be able to find a method in the madness. I’ve learned not to try to subvert the chaos around me cuz it just beats you down even more.
