Welcome to our 'new' forum

Guppies,

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the Science & Philosophy forum. The idea and focus of the previous Science & Technology forum will remain in place, but the scope will be broadened. From now on, discussions on philosphy and all aspects of human thinking and reasoning will be discussed here as well. Although very much intertwined with religion, the goal is not to totally exlude religious discussions -cuz that’s not possible-, but rather to discuss religion if the main point of discussion is regarding philosophy.

All in all, we feel that Science and Philosophy are two very much overlapping topics and as such can lead to some very good discussions and threads. From now on, not only the Newtons and Einsteins will be discussed but also the Freuds and Platos.

I will be posting some guidelines soon, but let me wish you all good debates.

Good initiative Nes, I will be looking forward to some exciting discussions on this forum.

Although I really don't see the connection between Science and Philosophy but I guess its better than having Technology there.

Stupid idea...the iplementation is horrible. Nes..you spent a summer at Harvard man!!!! wtf?

I like it. Now I can get help with homework. :D:D:D

SKN: mind you, the distinction between science and philosophy is only about 100 years or less old. Before that time both were the same people and even now a lot of established scientists have a philosophical facet of their work as well

Mats: the Technology part of S&T was posted more often in Comp than here, so I added another dimension. Seems to have worked: in one day more people visited than the previous week put together :D

this form looks pretty interesting maybe we can learn some good things here.

Interesting ... still mixing science with philosophy is kinda like having a cup of tea on the rocks.

Science is philosophy expressed in mathematical terms.

Where a conflict is seen either the mathematics needs advancement or the philosophy needs refinement.

Let's hope that there will be a lot more sensible discussions in this forum. The moderators would need to take extra care, I think. I would say, when in doubt that a pissing match would start, move a thread to the religion forum!
