So ist es, ich bin in Wien geboren, aufgewachsen und habe bis vor 3 Jahren noch dort gelebt. In Österreich sind beide Varianten üblich, aber die von mir geschriebene Version kommt wesentlich häufiger vor. "Vom Subway" ist zwar grammatikalisch wirklich nicht ganz korrekt wie du richtig sagst, aber in der österreichischen Umgangssprache eben nichts Ungewöhnliches.

I think Tayyebeh was not referring to "hence" vs. "therefore" as being wrong, but to the word "vom" vs. "von". And while she is right that using "vom" in this context is not 100% correct from a grammatical point of view, it is very common in Austria to use it that way. Not in Germany though.

Ist österreichisches Deutsch eigentlich so ähnlich wie Schweizer Deutsch?

And yeah I was referring to the "vom" part, nevertheless lets leave the issue now.

Nein absolut nicht. Als ich noch in Österreich gelebt habe, war ich dienstlich recht oft in der Schweiz und habe mit den Schweizern nur auf Hochdeutsch kommunizieren können. Schweizer Deutsch ist nämlich von Hochdeutsch schon so weit entfernt, dass man es als Nicht-Schweizer nur sehr schwer versteht. Im westlichen Österreich (also nahe der Schweizer Grenze) ist der Dialekt dem Schweizerischen schon etwas ähnlicher. Ich würde also auch einen Westösterreicher kaum verstehen. :)

Ya ich habe festgestellt dass ich vom Schweizer Deutsch NIX verstehe absolut GAR NIX. Alleine wie die im Internet schreiben, ganz schlimm. Ahh...

Teuer ist die Schweiz auch.
