Re: weight loss

I read an article in a Pakistani on-line newspaper critisizing the lack of women in gyms. He basically wrote that many women (the socialites) prefer to starve, smoke and waste away to remain 'smart' and slim. What they really need to do is go to the gym and work out to stay healthy. There was a while a couple years ago when many Pakistani models had that anorexic look. But hopefully, the average Pakistani girl is making healthy lifestyle choices. It must be hard though because it's a segregated society that indulges in fatty, fried and oily foods- high in carbs.

Re: weight loss

Most men gain wait after the marraige. I did too. The wifey cooks delicious meals, the friends invite you over for dinner, then outside dining and time spent in gym/tennis court is spent with the wife instead.

But now i have lost 13 Kgs in last 6 months and i want to loose another 4-5 Kg to come to the ideal 70Kg.

Re: weight loss

Did he mean no women were working out in the gyms or there were no womens only gyms?

Many women (or their families anyway) will have a problem wih co-education, so I doubt women dressed in huge uncomforatble sweats , sweating and puffing nxt to a bunch of guys wuld be “acceptable.”

If theres one thing I miss abt Pak, its the gym :frowning: There were aunties, there were young grlz my age, and those in between.. some very fit, some not so fit :bummer: Lots of women who wore skin tight/short stuff to workout in, wore an abaya over, or at th very least a shawl wrapped around their bodies… It was so easy to wear whatever, now I have to think about what to wear to th gym :bummer:

Re: weight loss

Sara that's interesting that such a wide range of women worked out in Pakistan. I hope people there are getting the message that health and caring for one's body is important. I think the article was critisizing women for not working out for health. That they prefer to stay slim instead using unhealthy methods.

Re: weight loss

I have seen women going out for long walks in Pakistan, in the Parks, in the streets. Even my ammi does that every evening and exercises at the house. As far as fatty foods are concerned, from experience I know that other than households that still cook in ghee, quality of food is a lot better back home than in the west. Quality as in more healthy. Sure there are more healthy choices in America/ Europe, however how many desi's go for healthier food? Sach batana.

Re: weight loss

its a TORTURE really .. but i do that .. reason is health .. i dont consume chiknayi very well .. and its huge inconvenience to eat a DIFFERENT meal than what everyone else eats during dinners/daawatain ..

but i stand against it and family circle knows this, made jokes about it (gora ho giya hay waghaira), but came to respect this choice.. and now they make something different for me if i am coming . . .

its a long way , really :-)

Re: weight loss

^^ so ja bay, subha kaam pe bhi jana hae.

Re: weight loss

I think they should introduce 2 hrs of gym time just for ladies in pakistan so that they can dress appropraitely. We desi women get together here and arrange women only swim time. It would be great because many women are shy and ofcourse from religious point of view. So why don't u girls back home raise this issue in your area gyms.

Re: weight loss

Sara are you overweight?

Re: weight loss
