Weight gain & the PILL

A friend of mine was telling me she gained about 10-12 lbs of weight since she went on the pill a few months ago. She attributes it to the pill because she says she hasn’t changed any of her activities or eating patterns.

Is that possible?

Should she get off? Are there any pills that don’t cause weight gain?

Re: Weight gain & the PILL

When my gynae prescribed them to me for irregular periods, my mom said NO.. something to do with high estrogen level I think. She should ask her doctor about it. This is what I found:

Interesting Shay.
As far as I know, she did call her doctor and at her next appointment, the doc plans to change her pill.

Re: Weight gain & the PILL

My doctor told me the Pill doesnt necessarily make you gain weight...just increases your cravings for food or certain things. She said before I give into the cravings, drink a glass of water to curb them a bit.

Re: Weight gain & the PILL

I also heard pills can cause hirtusim (sp)...is that true?

I have heard the same. Eating any fruit or drinking a glass of juice curbs your appetite and doesn't make you gain weight compared to being hungry and jumping into food.
