because originally, a lil bit o fat (mind you NOT the obese/overweight fat but rather curvy kinda "fat") was desirable and a sign of health..that u actually had money and could afford to eat .... (I think that's the same n every culture)...today it's just a nice way of saying that ur fat.. =//
