:salam2:

Starting this thread where I’ll post a question on weekly basis and members are requested to participate and share their answers (knowledge) in accordance to the question. It will be highly appreciated, if:

1- We stick to the question and don’t derail thread with unnecessary remarks, comments etc.,
2- We’ll try to answer with reference from the Glorious Qur’an and/or Hadith, and
3- We will respect each others.
4- We will open separate thread if/when required detailed answer and/or further discussion on a topic.

:jazak:

So let’s start :woho:

Question 1:

What is the meaning of **Tauheed, **and describe its three (3) categories?. Please provide reference from the Glorious Qur'an and/or from Hadith.

Tauheed means God is one.

But I didn't know it had 3 categories? This thread will serve as a learning source for people like me. I hope answers are kept simple, easy to grasp.

Great thread. I'll be more of a student so its hard to speculate the answer. Dont know the categories

Peace,

Tawheed is = belief, that 'Allah is One with no partner or associate in HIS Lordship (Ruboobiyyat), Divinity (Uloohiyyat) and names and attributes (Al Asma Wal Sifaat).

Reference from Holy Qur’an: “And your Allah is One Allah: There is no god but He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful”. Chapter 2 Verse 163.

**Reference from Hadith: **The Prophet Muhammad :saw2: when sent his companion ‘Maaz bin Jabl’ to Yemen said: “first call them to testify that there is no god but Allah…” Bukhari & Muslim

There are three categories of Tawheed:

  1. Tawheed-e-Ruboobiyyat
  2. Tawheed-e-Uloohiyyat, and
  3. Tawheed-e-Al Asmaa Wal Sifaat.

Who will answer (describe) these three categories?

**Tawheed is divided into three categories. All the categories Must meet to complete Tawheed.

  1. Belief in Oneness of divine Lordship including Belief in the Existence of Allah (swt).
  2. Belief in Oneness of the divine nature or Oneness of worship.
  3. Belief in the Names and Attributes of Allah (swt).**

I don't understand the second category. What's the difference between first & second category ?

First one is believing that Allah is One. He is the Creator, Khaliq and Malik. Thus believing in His Existence.
Second category is all about worship. Worshipping only One Allah. Making Dua, prayers, every single way of worship should be only for One Allah (swt) and Rabb.

Peace,

There are three categories of Tawheed:

1)** Tawheed-e-Ruboobiyyat** = Means "No partner nor associate in actions. HE is the Only One Who is able to do whatever HE wills, such as creations, sustainability, sovereignty, provision, giving life and death, controlling affairs, brings benefit and causes harm, answer prayers, controlling all things, sending down rain, causing climate changes etc.

**Reference from Holy Qur’an: "**Say: “Shall I seek for (my) Cherisher other than Allah, when He is the Cherisher of all things (that exist)” Chapter 6 Verse 164
**Reference from Hadith: **The Messenger of Allah :saw2: said: ?Every child is born in a state of fitrah (the natural state of man, i.e., Islam), then his parents make him into a Jew or a Christian or a Magian. Bukhari & Muslim

  1. Tawheed-e-Uloohiyyat = also known “Tawheed-e-Ibadaat”, which means that all kind of ‘worship (Ibadaat)’ i.e., supplication, sacrifice, believe, seeking help, having fear etc., only belongs to Almighty Allah.

Reference from Holy Qur’an: “Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him…” Chapter 4 Verse 36.
Reference from Hadith: “Let it be the first thing that you invite them to believe in only one God Almighty Allah”. Bukhari

  1. Tawheed-e-Al Asmaa Wal Sifaat - Means those names and attributes related to Almighty Allah which are proven from the Glorious Quran and Hadiths. These name in no sense singled-out / compared, explained, negated or distorted.

**Reference from Holy Qur’an: **“…there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things).” Chapter 24 Verse 11.
**Reference from Hadith: **“Every night Almighty Allah come down to the earth…” **Muslim. ← **How HE comes down? As HE’s pleased. We should accept is without comparing, explaining and negating. See example below:

A man came to Imam Malik and said, “Oh Abdullah, what does it mean in the Quran when it says Allah will rise over his throne”. Imam Malik said that Allah has discussed it in the Quran and it is known but how Allah does it is uncomprehndable to man, and believing Allah does it is mandatory (Waajib) and asking about details is innovation (bid’aa).

Peace,

Who will answer with references that "What is the virtue and importance of Tawheed"? :)
