I need some feedback for the following.
I am planning to make a pilot program for weekly tv show but i need some feedback from you guys.
Do you think there is a need for a Pakistani community program that is broadcasted from different cities in Europe and addresses the needs of the Pakistani community?
Is there already a weekly Pakistani community program from Europe?
How would u like to fill 45 min. of the program?
Although we will only cover Europe i would love to hear from Pakistanis in the USA what they think about this idea.
I know i did not give much details but i would love to hear from you guys. Looking forward to your replies.
Perhaps it would be good to get the expat Pakistanis (or even include all other desis) to review the different countries/cities in Europe? for example, I wouldn’t recommend Ireland to the desi community only because it lacks a lot of facilities that are available in places like the UK. No desi clothes shops here, for example, and I know of someone who tried to open an Indian boutique here but it had to be closed because there simply weren’t enough sales. Besides, the economy sucks right now and even the native people themselves are emigrating. So that’s just one idea - to review the different places in Europe from a desi perspective?
Also, I don’t know if that tv show will be broadcasted in Pakistan as well but if so, it would be good to show the people back home some of the harsh realities of “bahar ki duniya”. People obsess over going abroad, they have big dreams but then they end up cleaning toilets for a living here. I remember watching this documentary a while ago and it was just depressing to hear these immigrants’ stories.
As much as its ok to show the ‘harsh realities of bahar kee duniya’, it would be great to show the gratitude of desi living in European countries, towards the countries they are living in. The biggest problem with us desi is that we would live in UK, Canada and USA but continuously bad mouth those countries as well. It’s like it’s in our blood stream to be ungrateful. I mean no one is twisting your arm to live in UK, you are doing it out of your choice and reaping all the rewards that country has to offer, yet you have to do ronaa dhonaa all the times that how bad the country is where you are living.
True and I think it should show both the good and the bad. The reviews should be unbiased, they should talk about the advantages and the disadvantages and let the audience draw their own conclusions.

for example:
First segment. Duration 5 min.
We will first start with landmarks of a city where we will be recording our show. The host will tell in short about the place (history) and about Pakistani community living in the city and what roll Pakistani community plays in the city, society, politics…etc.
We will pay attention to local customs like local food or dress…etc. The host will play a centre roll in this.
Second segment. Duration 35 min.
Second segment is the main segment where we will gather main members of Pakistani community and we will discuss different topic that has to do with situation where they are living, situation in Pakistan, problems Pakistani community is facing at the place they are living. Positive and negative issues will be dealt.
In this main segment there will be variety and we will not every time sit in a room or hall to discuss. Wherever there is a mela, Ramadan, Eid, Naat competition, several other events or anything organised by Pakistani community we will highlight and will get to gather with the local Pakistani community.
Third segment. Duration 5 min.
Host will tell the viewers that its a surprise where the show will be hosted next time and will ask the viewers to email him and tell him what is happening in their city, town…and why should the show be hosted in their city and town. That way you interact with the community and make them part of the show.
You know guys …this is very much used formula…i want to make something different…something that really attracts the viewers (diasporas/and viewers in Pak) attention and will want them to watch the show weekly.
