I tried doing that but it is a flop for me. This is what I do now, Thursday go through my freezer, pantry, fridge and see what I have.
Come up with 3-4 dishes for the week with things I have at home. Buy any grocery not at home for those dishes.
I stick to the menu planned, no extra grocery in the home. No rotting veggies in the fridge and no overstocked pantry.

That’s a very good idea. It’s very important to use the groceries you have in the home and plan menus around that. That should be a priorty.
