My water broke about 3 hours after I lost my mucus plug at home. I was laying in bed and felt like a tiny pop…when I got up I leaked a little and thought to myself, “omg im peeing myself” lol so i ran to the bathroom and then i felt a small gush and liquid just trickled out steadily. I pretty much leaked throughout labor… but it’s not painful when your water breaks. You really just feel like your peeing yourself haha.
I was in labor and my water still didn’t break. Epidural and all, it still didn’t break. I don’t even know how it feels like since I was given epidural. When my doctor came to check for dilation it broke all of the sudden. Poor doctor was all wet… she was checking my baby’s progress. My contractions were super strong and painful for at least 12 hours. I wasn’t dilating. So don’t be surprised if your water doesn’t break even though you may have all the other signs of labor
omg.. I read almost all the responses yesterday and almost didnt absorb anything .. so read them all again and its sinking in finally ! so water breaking is actually like a river flowing
I am so glad you ladies shared your experiences , at least I will be well prepared now for the river ! Initially I was only going to take one dress to the hospital ! now I realize that wont be enough and surely I am gonna need more or at least keep some more incase I do get all messed up :hinna:
The idea I had initially was that the plug and water breaking happens at a certain week , now I know thats not the case .. it may or may not happen until last minute …
Just to check if I have understood this properly :
contractions can come before the plug comes out or even waters break …
Dont panic if the river is all clear water with no signs of green stuff or brown stuff ..
Dont panic if waters dont break, this can be handled later at the hospital
Call the hospital immediately once the plug comes out
Ok , now I am gonna wait it out .. In Shaa Allah 6 more weeks to go
CB here hospital gives you their own gowns to wear and disposable underwears also, don’t know about UK but I took just 1 xtra suit wth me tht I wore when I was coming home
Call the hospital when ur water breaks or when contractions are 1 min long, coming every 3-5 mins. Losing the plug won’t indicate labor unless one of these things is accompanying it.
Devi, Englaaaaaand mai they dont give anythng for free ! I mean they might do , but they wont forget to either charge you for it when you get discharged from the hospital , or they will give you some really dirty looks .. I dont want to encounter either of those two things so I am gonna go in well prepared
Punk, i will keep that in mind .. lets see how i fare with this delivery business
This
I don’t even remember losing the plug. There was some minor.. very very light.. umm hardly noticeable spotting.. nothing major like some other women had. There was no bloody show .. lol. I went to the doctor the next morning and he said losing plug wouldn’t mean much other then that the labor can start anytime.. when.. we don’t know. Could be few hours could be few weeks. So yes you have to have other labor indications to know if labor has started.
^same with me i didnt know when i lost my mucus plug…no bloody show no spotting…
i thought i will ask the doctor when i’ll go to hospital but i forgot to ask:chai:
Yeah, generally. But you might not know when u lose ur plug or whatever…so it’s best to stick with clear indications of labor before calling/going to hospital..ie) water breaking or steady contractions.
Well CB here exists another much uninformed mom to be which is me.. I really love your posts because they are the same questions i want to ask also… Plz someone explain some tips on like if one is sleeping n water just breaks n penerates into matress then what… How to avoid it as you cannot wash the mattress afterwards … Should start using some old bedsheets or what … Hope i sound even more silly than CB
Get a waterproof mattress pad and place it under your sheets, over your mattress. Cheaper alternative is plastic bags - place them under your sheets and you should be fine.
Heydou- have a look next to the maternity pads etc in boots/pharmacies. they have disposable bed liner things (similar to the pampers potty training sheets). they are quite good to use!
