Re: Wedding

Congrats on that first of all.

We got ours made in Karachi, because my cousin knows some very good cardmakers there. And the variety in Karachi is much larger as well. You might want to consider that option if you have relatives in Karachi.

We were very lucky to find a very nice furnished house just a 5 minute walk away from my in-law's house in Lahore (Walton Area). And I also have a cousin living in the same street where my in-laws live. So in total we had three houses in walking distance to each other where the wedding guests where staying.

The house we rented was owned by a family who lives in the UK and they only use it once a year when they go to Pakistan on vacations. The rest of the year it either lies empty or they rent it out temporarily for a month or two to people like us. Try to find something similar. At that time (2003) we paid 15000 Rupees for one month.

My suggestion is: Don't worry too much about Dos and Donts. Just be yourself, because I don't think you need to play a role that is simply not you. That will also take a lot of tension away from you in the pre-marriage days.

Icchra Bazar. Although it's a little bit expensive compared to smaller bazaars, I thought the variety there was awesome.

I had my Valima at Avari Lahore myself. Unfortunately I didn't know anyone there either, but my dad is quite good at negotiating so he brought the rate per person down just a little bit. The room for negotiation is not big though. :)
