I’m not getting married or anything but i dont know why everyone fave questions to ask me r;
What will u wear on yr wedding and precisely what colors? mayoun, mehndi, barat n valima.
Which designer will u go 4 for all your outfits?
Where will u get your make-up done from?
What kind of jewellery you would like to wear?.
And basically such kind of questions. Lol! I think they r fun to answer n its kinda cute how everyone is interested to know what i wud go for. However, thinking of these questions, it does make me confused cuz i thought i was always certain abt what i would be going for but not anymore. I guess its cuz of my latest experience with designers, make-up artist, videographys, photographers, etc that has really shocked me.
Anyway, so to all you unmarried girls..+ married girls (y not share what u pickd for yrself) what r yr answers to these questions :D.
fun thread!! well im unmarried buttt i've already thought about some of those things lol. here goes:
1) on the mehndi i'd wear a yellow gharara or possibly shalwar kameez with pink/blue/green in it and make it really bright and fun. id also have a paranda in my hair and glass bangles and gajarey.
for the nikah/barat day it would definately be a red lengha or gharara if i didn't wear gharara for mehndi. might be something like a gold blouse with red bottom or all red.
walima would be emerald green lengha with gold thread work etc.
2) im not fussed about designers, just any boutique in the UK that sells nice stuff!
3) make up from ambreen or hena. i also like dil matharu and jawad ashraf.
4) jewellery for barat and walima will definately be gold but more of the dull looking gold. not bright and shiny.
^ heyy i've just realised u haven't answered the questions urself!! im curious to see ur answers lol
You too :D haha...but ok it only makes sense that i answer too since i posted this up.
1) Mayoun- Def something in mustard yellow color. I do love bright colors too but i think mayoun's look should be subtle n calm. I would love Gota-work but i wish it cud be like my mom's clothes frm her wedding. That kinda gota work is not done nowadays :(. And would go for a simple shalwar kameez. and no make-up for sure!!! but paranda n bangles definately :D
Mehndi- I love olive green color so yup something in a combo of olive green n bottle green. Or i can also go totally colorful like adding pinks n yellows to my outfit. And its kinda funny but i already have a theme in mind which is arabic. So i would love to wear a jalabia (hope i spelled it abt rite). If that somehow doesnt work (i doubt it wouldnt) then i wud go for a gharara. And for make-up only eye make-up that too only eyeliner, eyekohl n eye pencil. And gloss wouldnt hurt :P
Barat- I would prefer something unique like what i just recently wore on my bhai's barat. It was anarkali cut kameez (frock) on top of a Sharara. Freaky eh? Imagine the designer @ karma told me the same that noo dat doesnt go with the outfit BUT I presisted and at the end everyone was complimenting me on my outfit. Even everyone @ karma loved it and told me that i m quite innovative :D. The color of my barat dress wud def be Red. I love going with tradition at times :P And i honestly think red suits me so why noT :P.
Walima- Firstly hope my inlaws wud give me the chance to pick my dress n then stick with my choice, lol. I would go for a combo of Ivory/Gold/Beige. If not this then either plum or blue. I do love colors so ya it wud be hard to decide :P. As for the outfit, i wudnt go for a typical gharara, sharara look again. I really like the sherwani cut so maybe that in velvet with rich embriodery done in deep gold. it can be paired with straight pants or even quolots or dhaka pyjama.
2) I absolutely luv Nilofer's clothes but she's too damn expensive for me :( So i don't know how i wl manage. I m pretty sure i wl end up designing my own mayoun n barat outfits. But its ok my inputs with designers actually make the outfits more my creation then theirs-LOL. But i don't mind and the results have always been good so definately i wud go for it.
I will pray that NS changes her prices by the time its my turn to select my wedding dress :P or i guess i wl just have to get it somehow- lol. I also think mehdi is quite capable of good work but he's so lazy :(. I really like him cuz he's a friendly guy n very nice with us. He even told me last i met him that he already has amazing ideas for my wedding dress hehehe. But will have to c if he has changed his lazy, carefree attitude by that time.
I have been to so many designers in last couple of months so i do have a good idea what level they r working at. I liked Zara's one bridal outfit quite alot, i believe she wore the same for her own wedding. Kamiyar is talented too and i liked one of his bridals quit a bit, it was in ivory. SO yah these r the designers i have in mind for sure. Karma, is the 1 designer i have been the most regular at but even then i wud never trust them with my bridal. Their service sucks bigtime and i dnt personally find their stuff very unique. But overall, they do have pretty good stuff that u can pick frm but make sure u order 6months ahead of the due date.
Edit: I forgot to mention that i would def give nomi ansari a visit for my mehndi outfit! luv his usage of colors.
wow you have thought a lot.....as far as i am concerned...i am unmarried..and have not given much thoughts ...the only thing i want is less make up..since i rarely wear makeup and i dont want to shock myself and people around me so makeup has to be really really really good, less and subtle:$ , nice jora with not much embellishment n stuff...not sure about the colors and very light jewelery again...everything has to be less less n less:P
whatelse...btw i really want haldi wala yellow color ka jora with gota work on mayoun/mehndi...i hope i look good to myself otherwise....i wont be able to enjoy my shadi :P
3) I am in dilemma about it already. LOL. I think once i plan to get married, i wl also enroll myself for make-up classes cuz no way i m gonna trust these unprofessional people for my make-up :(
4) Ruby Jewellers. I like elegant, smart cut stuff. I think i wud go for polki but the making for those sets is too much. Argh! i guess jewellery also depends on the outfit u pick up. Anyway, for sure no gawdy jewellery for me. And yup i wud like to wear mathai patti, i even tried it at the jewellers n it lukd fine on me.
wow Maham ur outfits sound so creative, i feel boring in comparison lol. i wish there were more places in london that sold traditional pakistani style bridal wear. i hardly see any gharara's and outfits with dhabka etc. its the same fishtail lengha and swarovski crystals everywhere u go. it was so hard shopping for mamus wedding.
Since I will be having my Nikah in a few months time InshAllah I am planning to wear Ivory and Green gharara, Umm I am not really sure about the designer as yet but most probably Seasons in london.
for make-up I will either go for Madeehas or Athar Shahzad hopefully
Rest of the functions are still 2-3 years away so I am not too worried about them :D
We have a tradition in our family, that the mayoun (and sometimes mehndi outfits) are stitched and then the ladies of the family embellish them with gota, thread and sequins and so forth. I would love it if my nani, khalas, mum's cousins and mum do that for me. It would be highly personal and definitely make me happy. Yellows and multicouloured gota.
Wedding wise, red. Mum's jewellery. My khala is a designer so I will let her take over.
Walima- I would want my in laws to pick and choose if they could. It would be a nice present for them.
I have picked the engagement outfit I want- its purple and ivory with gold work.

Very Interesting! I would love that but no such trend in my family :=(
