- Are there any vows on the nikaah naama?
- Does the molvi/qazi take time to explain the responsibilities of a husband and wife at the time of nikaah?
Re: Wedding vows
Aadmi bechara dil may karta hai soh doh soh vows :hinna:
Re: Wedding vows
- those vows usually settle before nikkah. may be one or two days before nikkha
- I have not seen any lecture in pakistan, but overseas molvi usually give brief lecture on it.

Re: Wedding vows
- dont know about pakistan, but any wedding ive been to here in Ireland or in the UK there has been a lecture on the importance of marriage in islam, duties of the husban and wife etc…
At my khala’s wedding the Imam gave a beautiful speech…it was really very touching…
and 1. i dont think we have “vows” as such like “till death do us part” kind…i think?! lolz ![]()
Re: Wedding vows
Ive never seen vows being exchanged although it is thoughtful. I have seen the bride and groom say a few words to each other.
The qazi's usually give a small speach on marriage and what it means in Islam.
Re: Wedding vows
On my nikkah, the imam gave a super LONG speech!! I was all teary in the beggining, then I just starting picking my nails and wanted to lean on the wall...lol
In Pakistan, I've never seen anyone say much about nikkah except kabool hai and mehr stuff. Here, they do usually say a few things about the role of husband/wife
Re: Wedding vows
How can you get married without reading the nikaah???

I have never seen it happen at any wedding I have attended. But I have heard that it does happen once in a while. I have seen a few Pakistani highlight videos (taken place here in the US) where they were said. Rare still though .....
...... I personally think it is a very touching thing to say vows to each other..... at every christian wedding I have been too, I always get teary eyed when I hear them..especially if they are ones the couple have come up with themselves.
- Yes - this one - EVERY wedding I go to, the molvi/qazi takes the time to say a few words about marriage in Islam and the responsibilities of a husband and wife.
........I have been to a few weddings where the "few words" turned into 1 - 2 hour lectures that completely deviated from anything having to do with marriage....it was like as if the molvi had found his audience and he felt the need to get everything off his chest. The few times this has happened... it has ALWAYS been awkward for the guest..... for the couple...and for the couple's families. Due to the long lectures...dinners were delayed and everyone was starving too. So awkwardness...and hungry.... not a good way to feel on your wedding day.
Lesson learned: be specific with the molvi/qazi about what you want said at the time of nikaah ... no shame in this...

I didn't read the document. My "waqeel" explained all the details to me before settling the meher. Then I qabooled.
Re: Wedding vows
oh acha, I misinterpreted your meaning of "reading" the nikaah
