Re: luxury invitations

personally, i think wedding cards set a standard for what the feel of your entire wedding will be like, whether its casual and fun, or regale and elegant. having said that, it's really up to you how you want to spend your money. some people really want a specific venue and some want nice stationary and other details.

Re: luxury invitations

I think having elegant cards are important too! But I personally think that you can just buy a 'decent' set of cards and turn them into luxury ones yourself by adding personal touches, e.g. sticking on diamantes, ribbons, pearls etc. This would save a lot of cost and you would end up with beautiful invitations :)

Re: luxury invitations

^ I do agree with you, but ur so busy with doing other stuff for the wedding that i guess u don't get much time to do it all by urself..... unless u get the wedding cards printed very early...

please post some pictures, what can be done at the back of the card. The little stickers with ur initials is very common now.

I would love to hear SGC's input on that.

Lol. True that. The wedding cards I really liked & they were going perfect with my shadi theme were costing me more than 3 dollars without shipping. The mehndi ones would have been almost 2 dollars each. I asked my parents if we could give the extra nice ones to close family & friends. Dad agreed, mom say no.

Her reasoning. People get excited & they talk & next thing you know some people find out they got something else. You don't want anyone to feel less important even if they are not close to you. That just killed it for me. :s

Re: luxury invitations

they’re good enough to be carried as a clutch :cb:

i think one of the easiest ways to update the look of your card is to change the color of the envelope.
you can get clear labels from any stationery shop that run through your printer at home and you can use a nice calligraphy font to design them and stick on to your envelopes.

if you have time, are crafty, and are willing to work on possibly a few hundred envelopes (depending on how many you’re sending out), then envelope liners are also a nice touch- How to Line Envelopes | eHow.com

but before you do any of that, you have to figure out if working on the invitations is important to you and your wedding and worth the effort.

for back of card, yes you could make monogram stickers and use them as a “seal” or you can actually have a seal made. http://www.etsy.com/search_results.php?search_type=handmade&search_query=custom+seal&order=date_desc&ship_to=

in the US and Canada, you can also personalize/custom design stamps with photographs or imagery that you can use on your invitations too.

one more idea that i particularly love is a personalized return address stamp, especially if you are sending out rsvp cards. you can pre-stamp your address and put a custom postage stamp on rsvp envelopes to give your invites that something extra-

and of course, if you do end up investing in custom designed, then your designer should be able to incorporate a cohesive look into all of the above for a jaw-dropping, super gorgeous set of wedding stationery!

Hey Tabeebah...The peacock feather card's orginal price is $120

Thanks so much!!!!!!

even tough i totally love that invite...its still a tad bit too expensive!

I know it is..And this is the reason why we decided not to order it and copied the design :hehe:
Heres what ours looks like..minus the bow on the bottom left..it is going to be replaced by a broche..

SGC, thanku so much! some lovely idea’s for sure.
will let u guys know, what i did…

if you are a fan of the show Platinum Weddings the bride sheila shenoy of houston did that and i met a couple that attended the over the top wedding. Well all the guests complained that the food wasn't up to par, and the invitations were nicely done like these boxes but most of them didn't even remember or keep them. it's kinda like when the bride and groom mail out thank you cards with their picture on it, that stuff should be saved for family that actually want that picture...your avg auntie or uncle doesn't care and you'd save a lot of money on going for blank thank you cards.
