Wedding songs

I know, I know, there’s some threads on this already but most of them are old.

Any ideas?

So far, all I know is:

Mayoun - “Sawar Loon” from Lutera
Mehndi - something typical Pakistani/punjabi and upbeat…
I’m thinking of having fiance walk into “jis din mera viya” or “tera hero idhaar hai”
Entrance to nikkah - I want something dramatic with a slower beat…debating between
“Jhoom” by ali zafar
“Chalte Chalte” from Pakeezah (anyone have a faster version…?)
“mein Tenu samjhawan Ki” (the rahat fateh ali khan version…but I don’t know if that’s too depressing…)
After nikkah - “tum jo aaye zindagi mein” or “ek din aap yun” (I kind of was thinking of this for before the nikkah instead)
I really like “tum jo aaye” but the whole “ishq mazaab , ishq meri zaat” part is kinda bothering me…i don’t think they literally mean it’s their religion but my fiance’s fam is pretty religious and I don’t know if it’ll ruffle feathers…input?

eeep any ideas? Like I said, I want something more traditional punjabi for the mehndi/mayoun (think shazia mansoor or musarrat nazeer) and then something dramatic and slow-ish that would be good for an entrance for the nikkah ceremony. For after the nikkah, fiance and I will walk in together so something cutesy but not walima-ish necessarily (nothing TOO fast or upbeat…still romantic).

PLEASE PLEASE nothing like “teri ore” or “tum hi ho” or the same 3 songs that everyone’s been walking into.

Wedding songs

At the mehndi you could walk in on

Mehndi ni mehndi- mussarat nazir (love this)
Mehndi ki raat- (think it was that girl band models)
Rang layi teri mehndi- rahim shah
Mehndi ki yeh raat- jawaad ahmed
Mehndi hai rachne waali- zubeida (film)

Wedding day an instrumental would be nice i walked in on "its life- Niraj Chag"

Jashne bahaara is another cute one

Rukhsati time i chose one by Fariha Parvez called Maye, even my videographer was like it was njce to see one from a mothers view point!

Songs you could do together erm
Saiyaara- ek tha tiger
Mehrbaan- bang bang
Jeene lagaa hoon

My minds gone blank! Lol will think of some more and reply!

Re: Wedding songs

Thank you! What do you think of either " Jhoom" or "chalte chalte" by Pakeezah?? I've always wanted something like that but I don't know if it's too cheesy!
I like Subhanallah from YJHD but it might be too fast for pre-nikkah

Re: Wedding songs

ok totally off topic: I went to a some family friend's wedding in pakistan long time ago like 2006 or so and their DJ was playing 'Smack that' in Barat. I was so embarrassed but I guess people didn't know the meaning of the song

Chalte Chalte is ADORABLE...i wanted that for my own walk-in but didn't happen.

Jhoom is good for a brides walk in. I like Kabira from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani as well for girls entrance on mehndi. My cousin did this song, i think it's called jaise banjaray ko ghar on her walima...it was cute.

Re: Wedding songs

hahaha. Not quite as bad, but at my cousin's wedding in Pakistan, the DJ played "Ya Ali" from Gangster on repeat for more than an hour. I can't listen to that song ever again. :S

Kabira the faster one, right? I always thought it was more of a ruksati song but I like it too. I REALLY like Chalte Chalte but I'm trying to see if there's a more modern version/better quality audio of it so it doesn't sound as "grainy".

the banjary ko ghar song. LOVE IT. I had heard it but had forgotten about it. It's slow enough where I wonder if that'll work for my entrance for the nikkah...

I like "mein tenu samjhawan ki"...there's just something about Punjabi songs. I don't know if it's actually too depressing though.

Wedding songs

Tenu samjha va ki i think is more of a being apart from your loved one song kinda like Teri Meri js actually a sad song but people still chose to play it!

Kabira is lovely! That would be really cute <3

Chalte chalte is a classic and im sure itl be something different ive not seen it done yet!

Re: Wedding songs

hallowed be thy name - cradle of filth
people=**** - slipknot
the drapery falls - opeth

Re: Wedding songs

Yeah I like the whole cutesy meaning with chalte chalte. And I agree about "tenu samjha va"...the lyrics seem kind of sad...I think I'm going to end up going with either Jhoom (which I haven't heard here actually) or Chalte Chalte.

I REALLY REALLY like "tum jo aaye" but it might be too quick for the prenikkah entrance. Someone suggested the rahat ali khan version but I just like the female one a lot more.
