Wedding shopping in less than two weeks!

Hey everyone!
Ok so im going to Pakistan to order all my clothes/jewelry for my wedding, I’ll have only one week in lahore, a few days in Islamabad & one day in karachi. I have been told from many people that I should make a ‘to do’ list since I have such limited time, My thing is that I dont know where to start from! I dont want to order a lot of outfits since i’ll only be in pak for a few weeks after marriage. I have already ordered my bridal outfit online and plan on ordering my walima outfit from aisha khadeejah so I’ve gotten that out of the way. I have a few questions, what areas should I go to in lahore to order my formal/party wear? and what colors are a necessity? also, what jewelers have great diamond sets? Where should I start from?? What are the key things I should write in the list?? please help!!

Re: Wedding shopping in less than two weeks!

There are areas in both cities where you will find a lot of boutiques, to be honest, you don’t need to worry about it too much. You can blow your budget in just a few days if you want.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Lahore.

There’s Liberty where you will find a number of boutiques/stores where you can order formals made to measure. It’s worth going around all the shops once to see what they have and prices before deciding.
Duputta gali is behind Liberty, you can find choriyaan and artificial jewellery. There may be clothes shops here too but I never went there much.

For designer wear, a lot of stores are along MM Alam road. You can probably google the road and find out what designers are along there.

For readymade wear, there is Fortress. I’m going to Lahore soon and there seem to be a lot of branches of various ready to wear brands moving into Fortress.

There are also some shopping centres with boutiques that can offer made to measure formals.. but it’s a matter of visiting them.

Anarkali is/was talking about quite often but I personally never went there. I’ve never particularly liked any outfits that people have told me they had made or bought from there. If you are on a very tight budget then I guess it would be worth it.

In Islamabad I believe there are stores like Melange. Mohsin Sons in Pindi is quite famous for making bridal and formal wear in a reasonable budget and I think there is Fashion ka Ghar as well.
I’m sure there is a lot more… it’s a matter of googling and looking for FB page

Re: Wedding shopping in less than two weeks!

Yes you should make a to-do list Missyy since you have so little time. Basically you should put everything on your to-do list which you have to get done in this trip so that you dnt forget anything. I'll post a list to help you start. stoppit has helped you in places for your dresses.

  1. Find and book your venues
  2. Decorators etc. OR your decorations and all the mehndi stuff plates, hangings flowers etc if you're doing it on your own. That will be a long list on its own.
  3. Make up artist, and from where you're getting your mehndi done
  4. you've got the bridal dresses what about the mehndi and/or mayoon?
  5. Bridal jewelry and accessories for all the events (chooriyan, flowers, )
  6. photographer and/or videographer
  7. invitations
  8. menus/ catering
  9. you may want to get matching shoes, clutches chooriyan or jewelry etc with your heavy formal jahez dresses

i hope this helps you as a starting point so now you can get an idea and add to it according to your requirements. I dont know how you're going to manage all this in so less time I wonder. I would recommend you to go to one city only in which you are getting married so that you have more time to get everything done instead of spreading it out into all three cities

Re: Wedding shopping in less than two weeks!

And you MUST take a local person with you when going shopping

Re: Wedding shopping in less than two weeks!

oh yeah you will also want to get the gifts for the in-laws if you're not getting them from abroad.
And you will also want a DJ or music arrangements

Re: Wedding shopping in less than two weeks!

Thanks for response! now this is starting to feel a bit overwhelming. I am terrified lol. I'll be doing the hall stuff in Peshawar as that's where my wedding will be, i'll be dealing with that after spending a week in lahre. I already know what photographer I want & he's in ISB so i have to just visit him to finalize everything. I have NO clue about my mehndi/dolki dresses, I saw an outfit online which I LOVE but am having trouble finding who the designer is. I will go to all the places that you all have mentioned inshallah I'll have enough time to. I also have made appointments with designers for formal wear as well hopefully they arent too expensive.

One thing that is really important - What jewelers are good? I want to get myself a diamond set.

Re: Wedding shopping in less than two weeks!

Also, the reason why I'm going to different cities is that as i have mentioned in the other post, my photographer is in ISB and I have to visit Karachi to visit the designer for my barat dress. Yes I have such limited time, but it must be done! one week in Lahore, 1.5 weeks in Peshawar (with random trips to ISB) and 1 day in Karachi (will stop there on my way back to the US) so WORRIED!

Re: Wedding shopping in less than two weeks!

for diamond jewelry, i would only trust damas. if you don’t have a stop over in Dubai, or time to shop there, check out their outlets in pakistan
