Wedding Shopping in Lahore - Jahiz

Salaams and evening Ladies!!

I need help and lots of it. You guys are my only source of hope! (i.e. Mahismart/RedVelvet - your posts are very helpful!). I am due to get married on 14th November 2010, and I am going to be making a trip to Pakistan on 22nd Feb to do all of my wedding shopping plus jahiz (clothes) in Lahore, soooooo…

  1. I have never shopped in lahore, so I would be most grateful if you girls could outline some places to shop in Lahore, both for general clothes and area’s where there are designer boutiques to buy my shaadi outfit! My max budget for the baraat outfit is between £1,200 - £1,600. Would I be able to get something decent in that price range?
  2. I was thinking of buying 15 formal outfits and the rest (25) ordinary clothes, but have no idea of what type of styles are in at the moment. Could you guys shed some light on the type of stuff I should go for?? I am small and curvy with a big butt so I guess that rules chooridar outfits!
  3. I have a general idea of what type of baraat outfit I am looking for, but struggling abit with mehndi colour combo idea’s! I am thinking burnt deep orange with dark bottle green/pistachio and a slight hint of fushia pink!? Yes.. no?
  4. Where would be the best place in lahore to buy artificial jewellery to match my baraat outfit, as I will be getting gold in the UK but just not the main set as I want to match my outfit accordingly!
  5. What shops should I go in for men’s sherwani’s? I am buying his outfit for the Baraat (and he’s buying my valima outfit)
  6. Shops for men’s mehndi shalwar kameeza and dupatte?
  7. Best shops for accessories and shoes??
  8. I am looking to buy a dinner and glass wear set - any idea’s?

I have made a huge list of things I will need in a word doc, but incase I am missing stuff out I would be grateful if you could throw idea’s and stuff at me so I can add accordingly - I would appreciate it so much.

Thank you so much in advance!

Much love

N

Re: Wedding Shopping in Lahore - Jahiz

I guess not then.

Salams sweety.

Best of luck in the shopping and congrats on your upcoming shaadi. Wish you all the happiness in the world.

As soon as you get to paks, go to one of the booksellers and pick up the latest bridal magazines, they usually have a directory per city which lists all the shopping places you can go to.

The designers are based mainly in Gulberg, but are a right rip off! I guess you have to see and choose. I have mentioned a designer friend of mine in this forum, she is based in EME and does really nice stuff, i wouldnt recommend looking at her website as that does not do justice to her work.

With the current styles, I think longer lengths will border work, or even plain borders are in, but then again, fashion changes quickly, so when you get to paks roam around and you will see what is in!

Mens sherwani and clothes: Dulhas, Junaid Jamshed, again the bridal magazines should help. If you do a google map search on lahore and move your mouse around, you will see that it actually lists key shopping places etc. Otherwise use google generously!

For shoes and accesories go to Liberty Market in Gulberg and enjoy! There is so much choice!

Dinner set etc can be brought from Icchra.

Ask one of your inlaws to either recommend or take you to these places and ask for their opinion.

Best of luck huni xxxx

Re: Wedding Shopping in Lahore - Jahiz

How did I miss this one!

Posho are you done with the shopping?

Hey all,

My MIL is also going to Lahore later this yr to get my Bari clothes - and she's also going after many years and asked me to find out some good names - so I'll tell her the ones you guys have mentioned thanks!

Does anyone know if these places have websites - hardly any Pakistani places do sigh.. I know I know so people don't copy outfits design etc but for over seas Pakistani who can't physically go to the store it's nice to get some idea..

Sigh - such a dilemma LOL!

Re: Wedding Shopping in Lahore - Jahiz

Hi all, can anybody help me? Is there any service in Lahore for taking us around for shopping - like there is in India. My mum and I have never been to pakistan. We don't have any relatives there to take us around. My mum does however speak limited urdu. Thanks for your help.

Re: Wedding Shopping in Lahore - Jahiz

^^ why dont you shop from US/Canada/UK where ever you are?

Re: Wedding Shopping in Lahore - Jahiz

that is an option but thought it would be nice to do it in Lahore - to get the authentic stuff but if it is impossible for two nonlocal ladies to shop there we will can the proposal. Funds isn't an issue so we can hire a personal shopper. It was very easy to do this in Mumbai so I thought it would be the same for Pakistan's major cities. Thanks
