I know this may be a long shot…but has anyone here been to Delhi for wedding shopping? Are you aware of any shops or designers that would make or sell Pakistani style outfits, with long kameez and long dupatta? My mom is considering getting my wedding clothes made there and I am afraid it will be hard to find someone there that “gets” what I want.
On the other hand I think, well theres gotta be brides in Delhi that prefer the Pakistani bridal look so I am sure a home based designer etc would understand what I was looking for. Also in terms of kaam im seeing that Indian Kaam is more heavy on those Swarovski crystals and doesn’t have the same impact as Pakistani style kaam. So confused! Any experience of shopping in Delhi please share!
Hey punjabikudi :) there is a blog called wedmegood.com/blog
you can check that out. The girl mehak is from Delhi and her website is very helpful. You can contact her too. She is very helpful with everything. Hope this helps :)
I went to India Delhi for my wedding outfits and I also had my heart set on a Pakistani style outfit but when you get there you appreciate what they do best rather than try and find something that isnt the Indian bridal scenes forte
You can get longer shirts and more intricate kaam in India but you just have to pay for it and its a lot more expensive than Pak. You will also find they use different fabrics too, less chiffon (as it quite rightly doesn't always hold work well) and more brocades and silks.
Karol Bagh is the best place to start, I found all my outfits at Frontier where they also custom design, so perhaps if you have a look in mind you can discuss with them? I did this and had the outfit shipped back to me when ready so can recommend the service. Perhaps take photos of the type of work youre after?
If possible try Lucknow as well, my cousin just brought back the most delicious gharara with really neat and intricate kora dabka work. I believe it was bought in the Aminabad area

I second Lucknow. I haven't been personally but I've had family sent ghararas from there and I think chatta patti esp is something they do beautifully!
