Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

As most of you are aware that i am in Lahore at the moment preparing for my wedding soon inshallah, I got a few requests to share my experience , so here goes ..

**What I was looking for : **

  • Non designer
  • Elegant and clearly defined design lehengas and bridal clothes
  • Quality of work in a limited budget

Where I shopped:

  • Ali Zari in anarkali

  • Ali’s in Liberty

  • Bano sari house , anarkali

  • Mahogany boutique , New muslim town , designer called Annie . They made me the non bridal heavy casuals

  • For having kaam done on clothes I used Muzammil’s in liberty. he is really good.

Some notes on the price range to expect :

For lehenga’s I looked at 30K and lower and the quality was as bad and horrid as it could get .. I totally despised it ..

But please be warned, when you look for a lehenga that is 75K on the racks , you can definitely bring it down to 35K , just need some good negotiation skills .

I think a range of 50K would give you a higher end excellent lehenga. While 35-45K range will definitely give you a reliable, presentable lehenga.

For bridal dresses , anything 5k and lower is usually trash quality , I checked fortress , liberty, ichra, even aurega , anarkali, link road and smaller markets …

A good quality , heavy design will cost you 15K , bargain it down to 10K …
a medium quality of work and normal sa fabric would cost you around 7k very easily.

The antique look in kaam is very in these days and is found in every freaking shop.. i hate the antique look and had to order the clothes instead of being able to buy it directly.

The time needed to order the bridal dresses : most of them are able to get a new dress made and stictched in no more then 2 weeks … you just have to make sure you push them into it.

**For Casual dresses : **
Frankly, I went to a few designers and came out sulking , Maria B was the most disappointing ever , Generations was disappointing , circles was not bad , even liberty and fortress had pathetic designs in … I have always liked Kashish clothes … so dont forget to check out their designs …

Well thats about all i know so far … ask me the questions if i know i will share …

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

well thanks for sharing your experience, it's nice to hear from someone normal (who doesn't have thousands n thousands to spend on bridal things)

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

excellent info! i think i am going to tag it and keep it at the top of the list!

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

thanks CB, and its funny that u mentioned Bano Sari house...its owned by my finace family (some one is his extended family owns it)...anyways he always bugged me abt getting my wedding outfits frm there and i got so tired of hearing the name...i said Noway that i will shop at Bano Sari house ... :) this is of course without even visiting the store.

abt inshallah i will visit the store once im in lahore doing my shopping :)

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

Thanksssssss a lottttt !!! :) CB ....Excellent insight and valuable information :)

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

It's very sweet of you to share your shopping experience in such detail. I'm sure it will help many.

Also, it's also a relief as well as a refreshing change to see that people still go for non-designer bridal dresses and that you can get something fabulous right off the racks at the fraction of what you'd pay to a designer.

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

Thanks guys , I am a real kanjoos by choice, I must admit .. and I dont believe in spending crazy money , hence I did the survey first to determine where the cheap quality range ends and the finer quality range starts ... then I made my choice on borderline Quality work ....

So you guys can definitely say this is the lowest budget for a non designer / excellent quality work.

Rabia , its so funny, isnt it , remember you told me about the BEE Dulhan shop as well? I tried looking for it , one of the dukan wala's told me , bee dulhan's owner died and then they closed down the shop..

By the way, Bano saree house do have some good collection of lehenga's ....

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

CB have u picked ur venue already?
and yea i will check them out once i m in lahore but for my bridal i am going to go with Zardosi…i had a cousin check this outfit for me and get a price for it too…he told them 1lakh for it (with all the work on it) and they can have it ready in few month (my mom will be going in march for my wedding shopping iA).

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

in a few months? :| how long does it take tp get a wedding dress made?

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

as i know they take 2 month + cuz when i last year went to zardozi they said that they only makes fresh pices thats y they need this time. i was really dissapointed cuz they have a rocking collection but i have not the time to made that by them. :(

Re: Wedding shopping Experience in Lahore

well my cousin asked if we order in march for a june wedding wuld that be enough time...and they said yes...

it depends actually, like CB said you gotta keep pushing them otherwise they keep dragging on. i got mine made within a month cuz my aunts told them that we needed it asap and literally had to nag them about it
