I heard there’s a law against an extravagant wedding dinner in Pakistan these days? Its something like a ‘one dish’ rule…? Is that true? I know people take their guests to their houses etc to feed them despite the rule and do other tactics to get out of it and still feed their guests. My question is really not to find out ways to get out of it. I just want to know if there is such a rule, if people take it seriously and if the government really is serious about those who break the rule.
Thanks!
Re: Wedding 'Rules'?

Re: Wedding 'Rules'?
Yes, there is a 1 dish law in punjab, I am not sure how strict it is.
Re: Wedding 'Rules'?
no its not at all here in khi ...i went to my friend shadii last saturday ....and there waz around 5 to 8 dishes ..............at that the time when no food waz allowed in weddings people used to have many dishes at that time tooo ............because anthing can happen in pakistan
Re: Wedding 'Rules'?
It's true. When I got married, they decided a month before the wedding that it was no food allowed. The Sheraton wouldn't take a chance, and they were threatening to arrest grooms and cart them away right at the wedding, so we didn't want to take a chance either! So at the last minute we had to make plans to have the dinner elsewhere, after the ruksati. It was all lovely, but just unnecessarily complicated.
Even then, a lot of people didn't follow the rule. Now it's a little more flexible but not really. And a lot of people just say it's some other occasion, not a wedding, in order to break the law.
Re: Wedding 'Rules'?
^ Yeah... I heard that too that people pretend its some other occasion.
The delimma of Pakistan is that Pakistani never follow the law. The resourceful will proudly break the law with no shame and get away with it while a common man guilty of same will possibely get in trouble.

Exactly and this is why things in Pakistan are getting worst day by day. If this was a law in Uk or USA, everyone would be following it without any yip yap!
Re: Wedding 'Rules'?
lol yea for real but thts such a stupid rule!
Re: Wedding 'Rules'?
^^ like this you can call every rule stupid as someone will always have a problem with it. :)
Re: Wedding 'Rules'?
I like the rule. I just want to know if people follow it... Sigh... Seems like not everything has changed in Pakistan... :(
Re: Wedding 'Rules'?
i got married 2 weeks ago.
it is indeed very strictly implemented in all public shadi places.
i.e. hotels, banquet halls....
Re: Wedding 'Rules'?
