I was looking for some wedding bands for my fiance- and i asked him what he would prefer. he said Islamically men are only allowed to wear rings that are up to a certain weight. I wasn’t sure of that- Can somebody provide me with more information on that please? Thank you-
yeh i know gold is not allowed in islam for men- but i still need something on weight- hmmm
fayanx and BH thanx tho-
nop never heard of weight...I guess Gold is deffinitly not allowed..however not sure about silver...bronze.....I mean I have never heard of concept of wearing rings in Islam....(it may be true) but I really think of it as a cultural aspect then religious...but no gold for sue..100%
thank u blindhope yes i know engagements are not part of Islamic practices but about the ring exchange it says in the link i sent above that:
"It is not permissible to the man to put it on his fiancée’s hand, because she is not his wife yet and she is still a stranger (non-mahram) to him, because she is not his wife until after the marriage contract has been done."
Silver rings are jaiz in Islam. The prophet (saw) was known to wear a silver ring that had a stamp (embossed letters I think).
It is perfecty in order to wear wedding rings from what I know, but the men should NOT wear gold. That's it. Silver is fine. I don't think there's a weight limitation as far as I know. Please check from an authentic source.

i have seen in many engagements where mother of the guy puts the rings on ....
Muhammad (SAW) took some silk in his right hand and some gold in his left, declaring, “These two are haram for the males among my followers.” (Reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, al-Nisai, Ibn Hayyan; lbn Majah, who adds “but halal for the females.”)
'Umar reported that he heard the Prophet (peace be on him) say, “Do not wear silk, for those who wear it in this life shall not wear it in the Hereafter.” (Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim. A Similar hadith is reported by them on the authority of Anas.)
Muhammad did permit silver rings. According to ibn Umar, al-Bukhari reported the former saying, “The Messenger of Allah (peace be on him) wore a silver ring. After him, Abu Bakr and then Umar and Uthman wore it, until it fell off his finger into the well of Arees.” (Reported by Bukhari). There is no prohibition against other metals such as Iron or copper.
"Gold is originally yellow in colour, and there is no gold that is white in colour, rather other metals may be added to it that change its colour to white.
So white gold is nothing more than yellow gold, but platinum has been added to it, instead of silver or copper. Hence in the stores the white gold has exactly the same standards as yellow gold. It is well known that adding silver or copper to gold does not alter the fact that it is gold, and it is does not make it permissible to use it. That also applies to adding palladium to it.
Based on this, wearing white gold is haraam for men, because in fact it is yellow gold, but something had been added to it to change its colour to white. "
So above is how majority of Islam Scholars explain it.
I would say better to avoid. Silver looks beautiful too and I dont know if we can color it yellow.
