pfft - how can you do something soo non-islamic and then pray too! - nothing against our hindu sisters .. just that u either follow islam or u dont .. anyways!!
m on beechin mode today sorry but this is just a big surprise !!
Re: Wedding Rasams
why are we not allowed to do it?
Re: Wedding Rasams
^ im curious too... what is the significance of it religiously? i thought it was simply a cultural indication that she is a married woman because her maang is bhari. maybe they're indian muslims?
Re: Wedding Rasams
guys ... u know how we have a nikkah and a dua that follows that means the bride and groom are officially married .. similarly 7 phairey and maang bharai and a mangal sutre represents their officialism .. someone correct if im wrong .. but there is no indication of maang bharai in islam .. and forget that .. even cultural indications dont suggest that .. although we have adopted a lot from the indian culture esp some religious ones ..
some are small simple adoptions which are more inclined towards the fun side of rasms and some just represent an entire different religion soo ... kinda weird. . anyways .. back to rasms .. m done being mean now :) !!

I think sometimes people just don't think about this stuff. My parents did the mang bharai rasam at their wedding but with golden glitter. Both their families are quite religious but I think my dads mom was really into rasms. My mom didn't like the idea but was too timid to protest. My future SIL actually wanted to do this at my wedding (5 more months to go!) but def not doing it.
Re: Wedding Rasams
I like the rasm Where cousins dont let the groom enter bride's room and ask for money
Re: Wedding Rasams
