Has anyone ever used a wedding planner? Would you recommend going that route? I’m going to end up having around 6 months to plan for my wedding and I’m going to be doing it while going to school full time away from home.
I honestly don’t even know what their job responsibilities are…
And can anyone recommend any in the Southern CA area?
I personally did not use a planner, however it drove me crazy trying to coordinate the decorators to DJ to photog / videog ... and then to transfer over those duties to friends / siblings during the actual wedding week. It was a bit too stressful to be honest.
I do recommend a wedding planner and soCAl has a lot of options who are extremely good. My relatives' weddings in southern California knocked weddings in Pak (decor, food etc) out of the park. I don't really know which planners they used. But there are a few famous ones like Kismet Events , Exquisite Events and Weddings by Kathy. They have a webpage and/or facebook page too. I am sure there are tons of others. You could google and see testimonials etc.

thanks for replying! Any way you can find out who your cousins used? I know someone that used "Bridal and Event Lounge" and their wedding was real classy. I'm a control freak so I kind of don't want to give up control to a third party but considering we have barely enough time for a wedding and I have to plan from across the country, I think I should go that route. So far, anyone that's used a planner that I've talked to, hasn't regretted it.
I will see if I can find out. It was really nicely done, and I am sure the price tag would have been very hefty.
Yeah I understand the control freak part, hence I took on everything with limited help! It can be a good and a bad thing. The good is of course you have your say in everything from decor to food to venue to music etc and there is less chance of decorators etc messing up. The bad is it can be very stressful (trying to manage, organize and coordinate so many things), and for example if you see one thing in decor that is different than from what you had said, it just drives you crazy. lol
Personally, I had a budget in mind and knew that I would spend big for the wedding rather mehndi & other festivities. Being a minimalist with classic / elegant style who loves traditional Pak weddings, it was really hard for me to find decorators or planners who understood what i wanted. So I remember sketching out my entire floor plan / color scheme / stage for mehndi, shadi etc. I even created the song lists for DJ for all events. And I know many people dont care about shadi food as long as the decor and photographer etc is ok - but for me everything had to be right. The week of wedding was stressful in the sense that not everything i delegated was understood properly by people. There were a few hiccups here n there but only visible to my eye and overall everything turned out to be amazing.
