I think one should look for guidance from the Wedding planner who is ABOVE ALL OF US. Once the show is over thats when the real life starts.
I let mine to be planned by my mother she had a blast and i loved it as well. I did not care how everyone else felt, as long as i looked stunningly breath taking gorgeous beauty thats all i cared.... mission was accomplished *grin

FYI--in NY
There is this indian shop on Hillside Ave by Patel Brothers I think its called "dipali house" or something like that. They got all sorts of decorations and i believe they got wedding planners info as well. They got albums filled with things and little tiny details that people look for. Call some of American Wedding planners and i know some of them have done desi weddings as well.
