Wedding Planners? GTA

Has anyone hired a wedding planner or a wedding coordinator? What was your experience like? Do you think its worth it..??

I’m thinking of getting a day of wedding coordinator for my wedding.. since all my pre-wedding planning is done.. I’ve booked pretty much all the vendors etc.

What do you guys think? Do you think its worth it? I want someone for the baraat day since there will be so much going on.. i’m also getting a bunch of vendors coming in so I want to make sure foods on time/decor/flowers etc.

I spoke to Sara Baig.. she said her package is $850 for a full day coordination. Do you girls think its worth it?

I also found this other girl.. she’s persian.. shes saying $400 for a full day (since she’s new?)

ALL opinions are welcome

Well if you already have everything done, I say go ahead without one. Most likely everything will go smooth if you have everything set up, I'm sure your family members will see through that everything is done properly.

Re: Wedding Planners? GTA

I would *not *depend on close family members to keep things together that day- its their day too, after all. They'll be busy also getting dressed and wanting to have a good time and if they're responsible for everything going the way its meant to, that's a big deal and a lot to ask, and lets face it, not everyone is up for handling the pressure.

For my brother's wedding, which I planned and coordinated along with Sara Baig, we showed up at 6am at the hotel and I finished everything, and made it up to the hotel room to getting dressed around 7:30 in the evening, just as cocktail hour ended and people were allowed into the hall. It was a super hectic day making sure everything went up on time and in place. Its a lot of work, regardless of how organized you are.

A skilled planner can absolutely make your life easier- they can coordinate with vendors and usually are there from morning till after the event is done to ensure everything is packed up and goes back to the right folks. Plus keep in mind that a day-of planner will still be meeting with you to get an idea of your event and your vendors and more importantly, your itinerary, prior to the actual day, so its more than just showing up that morning to arrange things and make sure they go smoothly. If you can afford it in your budget, go for it.

Have you asked around with other planners? I wouldn't hire someone inexperienced either- they need to know what they're doing. I'm sure other experienced planners also offer day-of packages- ask around and see what kind of quotes you get!

Re: Wedding Planners? GTA

I'd go for a wedding planner :) Even though you have all your vendors picked out already, I think you'll love having a wedding planner for the day. All my friends used planners (mostly just for the day, only 2 used planners from before)... but I think its a few hundred dollars well spent. You AND your family will be stress free. Your family will have enough stress to deal with (e.x attending guests)... they might overlook things in their stress or might not enjoy a moment because they are thinking of 1000 things... so go for it!

I'll be hiring a planner too eventually :D

My only suggestion: go with someone experienced!! One of my friends went with a new-comer and at times she felt like she was teaching the planner... you don't want that :|
There are LOADZ of people claiming to be planners these days.... but in reality (IMO)... if you don't have previous experience or a background... you really can't do a great job

I can't remember the name of a wedding planner I met @ one of the bridal shows last year - they were extemely professional and I could tell just by their attention to everything I was saying that they would be awesome... I asked the guy and he said that all their planners have to have a certificate of event planning... which seemed to be working great for them :)

^^ Thanks you guys! Yah I’m going to meet two more ppl and then decide. But for now I really like this girl (although she hasn’t down a pakistani/indian wedding) she is very professional and easy to deal with.

Here is her own wedding featured in WedLuxe…

I think one of my friends used Sapna Wedding (or something similar) and liked them alot

Re: Wedding Planners? GTA

Me and a friend of mine hired Shannon at Isabelle Annalise... www.ialuxury.ca
She is super professional and knowledgable... has 5 years experience! Her company only takes a set amount of clients a season so she gets back to me so quick!
They also do decor and florals... so I got a discount for hiring them for planning and decor... she does beautiful stuff!

Re: Wedding Planners? GTA

Isabelle Annalise is also doing my day of cordination – my experience so far has been wonderful. Shannon is very helpful and really listens to what you have to say
