wedding photographer Uk

Hi Guys, just a quick question how much would a photographer charge for covering a mehndi, wedding and valima function?
My brothers getting married in October and we’re in the middle of trying to find a decent photographer. We went to the ASIANA wedding fayre this weekend and there was a photographer there called “maz” he said he’d charge £2000 to cover 3 functions and produce a bog standard album. Apparently this was his starting package and a “proper” package costs upwards of £4000!! my sister and i were in a state of shock at this point and switfly moved on!!

i cant belive this is the going rate but i thought i’d ask my fellow guppuns for some advice!!!

Re: wedding photographer Uk

hi brummiebird

im getting married in august inshallah and am also in the process of finding a wedding photographer/film person- a lot of the people I have spoken to do a package of 1800-2000 for mehndi and shadi day...but for example if u want him to come home and film the sehra bandi/leaving hs etc then its extra! and if u want 2 cameramen they charge another £200- £300 extra!! also the price goes up depending on the size & number of fotos and if u want a fotoshoot...and ofcourse if u want him for the valima then ur looking at another £400-£500...

i was reallllly shocked, i found that you have to do a lot of research and i was told the best way to find out whose good is through reccomendations- because some of the camera ppl can b a bit funny..i made a lot of appointments and went to see their work- i would recommend u do the same..

me and my in laws went for the same person (so we booked him for 4 days- 2 mehndis, shadi and valima) so he gave us a decent price...if the girls side are happy with it mayb u shud do the same? go for someone good and hopefully it will wrk out cheaper and the style of the film will be the same on all days :) but if it causes problems then dont suggest it!

sorry i dont think i was much help xxx

Re: wedding photographer Uk

Hi Brummiebird,

First of all congrats on ur bro’s wedding!

I kno a good videographer who does photography too based in Brum… we have had him for many of our occasions, n i tend to recommend him to my clients too as i like d fact dat he listens to wat u want n is very approachable, also his not too much of an ‘oldie’ so is in track wid current trends… his photography portfolio is a must-view… ive had sum photography done for my portfolio from him too, n also hired him for my daughter’s 1st b’day… can’t remember off d top of my head how much he charges but he’s vry reasonably priced compared to d other ppl ive had quotes from…

Ive jus given his details on the AWPF site - u can access his details at:
http://www.awpf.co.uk/brideforum/viewtopic.php?t=20

There r details of other professionals too but Abid is the only one i would recommend. When u contact him, mention dat Sanam (d beautician) gave me your details, u may even get a better price for mentioning my name. Hope dat helps x

Re: wedding photographer Uk

Guys thank you so much for both of your responses. Honestly things in the UK cost a ridiculous amount of money. My older brother got married in pakistan a couple of years ago and honestly things out there are so much cheaper. I thought the girlie at the "maz" stand was having a laugh when she mentioned £2000 as a bog standard package which didnt include any type of videoing just photography! Am i being incredibally naive or is this jsut totally ridiculous.

Aishii congratulations on your upcoming wedding, i think i can share some of your pain! ufff they must think we're made of money. I think you're absolutely right, we're going to have to go on recommendations and word of mouth. Lakhani photo studios are very popular in leicester and lots of people tend to use them but to be honest i'm not very keen as they did a friends wedding and the photos werent all that.

We did think about using the same photographer as my brothers in kaws but then we thought what if theres a situation where one side is saying "ooo they've got more photos than us" etc etc. thought it might be easier if we share the filmography and got our own photographers. uffff i'm so confused i cant even think straight!

Sanam, thanks again for the details of Abid, i will be giving him a call very soon and i'll let you know what he comes back with.

Re: wedding photographer Uk

Re: wedding photographer Uk

Hi Bride2b,

U have’nt mentioned which part of West Midlands u reside in so ive searched for some photographers that cover the west midlands area in general. If ur not too fussed on prices (as most of these r quite pricey) u can check them out at:

www.mrcreativeimages.co.uk
www.asianweddingsbirmingham.com/
www.apnavideobhajan.com/
www.a1ww.com/links.php
www.specialep.co.uk/
www.stylentrendz.com
www.atwari.com/ (this one is a female photographer)
www.birminghamweddingphotographer.org/
www.videowala.co.uk

NB: i have not met these photographers or seen their actual work - u can check the website out, but remember jus because the website looks good doesnt necessarily mean that the work will be good… anyway good luck! n let us kno who u chose in d end.. x

Re: wedding photographer Uk

its about the same in toronto too... if you want a good photographer, you're look between $2000 and $4000 especially if you want coverage on all days plus video. its a lot of work for them, to take all of those pictures, plus edit them, to make your video and then edit that too. the album and prints themselves are a very small part of the overall cost, i find, its more their time and expertise that you're paying for, really. our two photographers charged us $250 an hour and covered our mehendi and shaadi for $2500, but they were so good, i felt they were worth every penny. in fact, they were so good at capturing moments, we decided not to hire a videographer!

Re: wedding photographer Uk

^ I was really surprised at our price as well, but..i must say it was worth it! I feel he did a great job.
