Wedding on a very tight budget! Used beauty tools?

Hey Everyone,

I absolutely love this forum so i just thought of posting my problem too. I am financing my own wedding which is in April 2014. I am all done with my after wedding heavy and lawn clothes, bridal and valima dresses, bedding items, electronic items, shoes, furniture, etc. I am also done with my mother’s and father’s clothes. I bought my gold also. To save money on the wedding day decoration and food, I am not doing any mehendi or mayon on large scale.

After all this, I just came upon the beauty vanity. This is where my budget is not allowing me to misbehave. As I also have to pay for the photographer and makeup artist.

Can you guys kindly tell me if some one is selling once or twice used items such as curling irons, hot rollers, makeup products which are never used. I know bloggers have loads of items hoarded up. So probably if they sell it to me for lower price wont hurt anyone of us. What do you guys think? I am also looking for some blog sale but in Pakistan, it is near to impossible.

Any more suggestions on bridal budget saving?

Thanks everyone
XOXO

Is your wedding in Pakistan? If that's the case, I don't know how it works there, but if you're elsewhere, I would imagine that it would cost you about the same to buy all the beauty products needed as it would to just pay a makeup artist. And professional makeup will look professionally done. For you to try to get professional grade makeup, brushes, and hair tools to create the same look will cost you a lot more and it wont be worth it for just one night. However, if you have some talented friends/family that can help you out, you can ask them for the favor, and I'm sure they'd be happy to help... Sorry I don't really have a better solution for you. I also had a very tight budget for my wedding with many of the same restrictions that you are experiencing. However, I found a makeup artist that I could afford and was to my liking. A little shopping around will help. As for the photographer, if you can find friends/family who are in this field and will do the favor or who can pay a photographer for you as your wedding gift, that will be your best bet.

If you do go over your budget by a little, the money that you receive for your wedding will easily cover the cost. Just make sure your fiance is ok with using it in this way. Good luck!

Hey muslimah118, Thanks for the reply. Yes, my wedding is in Pakistan. If it was elsewhere, of course i could afford a better wedding :P

Well I am not skipping on the professional makeup and all. I am just thinking of buying some used vanity items for post wedding parties. I have kept a separate budget for the wedding makeup and haven't thought whom i will chose but right now i am just focusing on getting some used hair styling tools and some makeup items.

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. Have you tried poshmark? You may be able to find some new or used brushes at a discount.

Hello

There are a couple of good websites that sell discounted makeup and beauty supplies that I found are quite nice. A blogger friend of mine recommended them when I was looking for a specific MAC lipstick colour from last year’s winter collection that wasn’t on their website anymore. Good luck with your wedding planning

Re: Wedding on a very tight budget! Used beauty tools?

I’m not sure how comfortable I’d be buying used makeup, brushes and hair tools…it doesn’t sound very hygenic :konfused:

Instead, why don’t you concentrate on dupes of high end products that are found in drug store brands? There are plenty of threads here in F&B that talk about drug store dupes for MAC etc. And as far as styling tools go, all you really need is a hair dryer and and flat iron…the 1" ones can be used to curl as well. If you have any relatives or friends in the US, ask them to check out Ulta or Target for you…you can get really good deals on makeup brushes of good quality for a fraction of the cost of MAC brushes. If you’re having trouble finding them in Pakistan, then try drug store dot com or another sight that ships internationally.

Hi,

if you live in karachi or lahore, i will recommend you to check Hyperstar :)So many make up brands you will find at dirt cheap prices :) .. Moreover, if you are looking for a curling rod or straightener, its better to buy them in steel than to buy 2nd hand stuff... Steel straighteners and steel rods are quite cheaper than ceramic ones :D

Hello

I just thought of another good site that has loads of makeup and beauty tools at a discount. The name of the site is a bit misleading. The carry more than just fragrances. They have loads of makeup and hair stuff as well:

Fragrance Direct - Online Perfume Shop, Cheap Womens Fragrance and Aftershave

Hey Diya,

Well I never get anything I need at Hyperstar Karachi. They are not properly stocked with Rimmel, Maybelline, Maxfactor or anything. What ever I ask for they say they dont have it but will be available soon. :(

Re: Wedding on a very tight budget! Used beauty tools?

Re: Wedding on a very tight budget! Used beauty tools?

Allah Bless you.. I can really understand how difficult it is for a girl to finance her own wedding A to Z living in the place like Karachi.... I hav this idea cuz I have organised my sister's wedding all on my own expenses being single myself. Now like you I am sponsoring for my own wedding in Feb InshAllah....

as far as affordable new products you can visit gul plaza in saddar and an electronic market opp. Gul Plaza... I just bought my new Rimington hair iron that worth around Rs. 1600 -1800 in market, n i bought it in Rs. 1100 and its brand new, not used.

also for and expert shopping you shud be expert in bargaining as well, as shop keepers here exaggerate alot....

gud luck :)
you may ask anything needed anytime
