Re: Wedding & Name change!

oh very good

the part in red..yeah this is how it is in pakistan too…in UK you with your father’s surname

Re: Wedding & Name change!

I find the culture of kids taking their fathers first name kinda strange … the idea of lineage and family doesnt really follow then …

But anyway …I was considering the idea of adding my hubby’s last name to my first and last maiden names but didnt do it.

My identity is so tied into my full name. After 26 years of being me …how could I just change that all of a sudden and become someone else?

Re: Wedding & Name change!

i didn’t change it officially, just “assumed” it, which you can do according to canadian law, and i ended up hyphenating against my last name rather than replacing my last name with his. too much paperwork! :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Wedding & Name change!

paperwork :bummer: is the main reason, sooo far…

Re: Wedding & Name change!

**Islamically, a woman is NOT required to change her last name after marriage. more and more western women are keeping their last names while desi women are running after the western traditions.

to make a statement and for a change, after marriage, i’ll giveup my maiden name and acquire my wife’s last name  :cb:**

Re: Wedding & Name change!

I'll be changing my last name because I think it's so cute. But I'm not sure if I'll drop my last name fully or hyphenate it with his last name.

Re: Wedding & Name change!

thankfully my family name is "Khan" and i find it ridiculous when ppl take their husbands first name....its too much effort and paperwork to do the name change here...but i would take his lastname where necessary :D

Re: Wedding & Name change!

I think the simple solution would be to marry somebody with the same surname! ;)

Re: Wedding & Name change!

What a world it would be if men started changing their name and had to go through all of this instead of us!!
