Wedding Mehndi

So ive been seeing pics of brides that have a very small amount of mehndi on their hands. Is this the new trend? I dont feel like you look like a bride if you dont have mehndi done up to your elbows. Is that something of the past?

Also, what kind of mehndi is in these days? The arabic or the traditional?

Re: Wedding Mehndi

I think its down to each individual.... i'm not sure what type im going for yet but might end up going for slightly over done not too mad.
Most brides tend to match the mehndi design with the style of the dress. So if they have a western type of dress they opt for the small amount of mehndi, whereas, if its a traditional over done lengha suit they opt for the mehndi design upto the elbows.

I personally like arabic designs for mehndi i think they look that little bit more elegant then again it depends on the design.

Re: Wedding Mehndi

i'v noticed alot of people are mixing the two.. you could have mehendi up to ur elbows but on the inside traditionally full and on the outside a more arabic style.. ur mehendi artist should be able to do that for u xx

Re: Wedding Mehndi

What's the difference between Arabic and Indian mehndi?

Re: Wedding Mehndi

^^Arabic mehendi is more sparse with flower and leaf patterns. Like this -

Indian mehendi is more intricate and covers most of your palm

Re: Wedding Mehndi

its up to the bride usually, i prefer arabic mehndi as i dont get why people would want their hands look all black/brown on their wedding.. it looks bad imo

Re: Wedding Mehndi

Full on mehndi for me! I wouldnt feel like a bride without my hands being covered in mehndi! Although ive seen brides with minimum mehndi and it looks very classy!

Re: Wedding Mehndi

I’m in two minds about this. One the one hand I want to feel like a bride - so I want the full-on mehndi. On the other hand, I don’t really like mehndi and I generally think it looks messy. I’m erring more on the less is more side at the moment. But I may change my mind…:halo:

Re: Wedding Mehndi

mehendi up to the elbows is ick- i only had my palms done, front and back (see my avatar on the left), and it looked lovely and i looked bridal :snooty:
and neither me nor my fiance were grossed out by it so it was a win-win all around

Re: Wedding Mehndi

in love with your mehndi
