Re: Wedding lenhga

There are so many designers and kaam wallay shops so its very hard to answer your question. It all really depends on your budget, the quality of workmanship you are looking for, and the style/look you are going for, how much kaam do you want on ur jora etc. From this forum, Ive gotten these prices

roughly:

Zardozi: 80 or 90,000 rs
Think Pink 70,000 rs
Rouge Memoona Mannan 3 or 4 lakh
Bunto Kazmi starts at abt 3 lakh
Karma 1 lakh and above (someone here did say their cousins got it for 1 lakh
HSY 2 lakhs and above (recent bridal pic had a 1.7 lakh jora too)
Nomi Ansari 1.5 lakhs and above
Amna Kardar 1.25 lakh and above
Nilofer Shahid and Faiza Samee--similar to Bunto
Umar Sayeed 3 lakhs and above

A lot of the designers have their prices on facebook or can easily be e-mailed. The time period it takes to make the jora varies from designer. Bunto easily one year, HSY/Karma 5/6 months.

Most of these starting prices I agree with, but there's no way, NO WAY i don't care who said their long lost relative bought these outfits for 1lakh and 1.5 lakh respectively. If you are buying REAL bridals from these two designers, there's no way you are spending this less. I dont care if this person bought them 3 yrs ago, if it was their cousin, sister, aunt, whomever, unless u know the designer and are getting hefty discounts you aren't getting those prices and definitely not a karma bridal for 1 lakh. For Karma, the lowest quote i got was Rs.1.6 for a pink bridal lehnga but if u turned the same thing into a gharara (because of more kaam and fabric) they charged around 2 lakh. When I went to Nomi, he gave me quotes of Rs.3.25 lakh and Rs.2.75 for the two bridals i liked. But I do not know what his starting prices for bridals are. I just strongly believe it is not Rs. 1.5 lakh. I'm sorry I refuse to believe that a client without any relation to the designer got a real bridal for Rs.1 lakh.

oh yeh, i also got my karma bridal in 2 months, thats all the amount of time i had before my wedding. just make sure u speak to them and see if they can give u the dress in less time. some of them do try to work with ur time requirements.

OMG!!! :0 thats like ages!!

what if ur size changes in between this time? which often it does after all, all the brides are on a diet, including myself

I will still say it all depends.....I got quoted 1.3 lakh for three Nomi outfits (2008) which his staff e-mailed me (my family had seen him the same day and requested the designs they liked to be sent to me in the US). I wasnt particularly fond of them so I didnt choose them:) All three were ghararas and the kaam amount was medium (not OTT, not extremely simple either). His prices must be differnet now because its been a year already:)

Karma Ive seen/heard all--depending on the Lahore studio or at the Designers. So my suggestion to all brides is to go and ask each designer urself--u never really know:) I doubt ppl would lie in order to make their joras look cheaper--think its more likely that they would pretend its more expensive lol

As for Bunto, her prices have sky-rocketed in the past few years. My immediate relative got married in 2005 and made hers for 1.25 lakhs (which no one will believe, but was made in three months time)-- it was on the simpler side and a lengha--and a very good friend got hers for 1.75 lakh (medium heavy farshi gharara. Both are authentic, have seen the boxes, family went to get the jora (I was sick that day). but of course that was 5 years ago and now she charges 3 and above from wht ive heard:)

What people might not know about Bunto is that she has ready made parts of joras (usually in December). If you find a lengha or gharara or dupatta you like the rest of the jora will be made accordingly. This method is cosiderably cheaper and much more time-friendly.

Re: Wedding lenhga

rasberri
if u do go for a turquoise colored lengha please please for gods sake dont go for that cheap bright turquoise color it looks soo super pandu... if u go for turquoise go for sumthing thats very pastel type like that karma one mahismart put up, but dont get i all turquoise... i would get a combo of pastel turquoise and a dull peach... tey look amazing together... i would get a turquoise kameeze with a silver rashem n kora kaam all over it but the bottom of the sleeves and bottom of the lengha sud be peach color and that can have very dull gold heavy work on it... the duputta i would do a dull peach with a turquoise border but the kaam wud be silver and dull gold...
as for the lengha i would do a farshi.... the top part of the farshi i woud do peach jamawaar with big gold motifs so there is a contrast between the shirt n lengha, n the bottom of the lengha wusd be turquoise... its just sumthing i had in mind n i i think it wudm looks amazinggg.. but please dont got o zardoosi n think pink or dont go to LIBERTY for that matter,,, their cloth m kaam is very cheap, its all diamondties and bead work, not that authentic raasam and kora kaam which looks more regal n elegant and timeless... i wud go to a designer... u r looking at at least 2 lak mininum, the price of designers has gone up veyr high in past 5 years...
bunto is a family freind of ours for past 30 years, n very close to us, my sister is getting married this year n she ordered her jora n she with a discount is asking for 3 lak, origionally she quoted us 6, but my sistes joora is super heavy full on kaam on the duputta, shirt n lengha... n also she getting her valima from hsy, n hsy is her father in laws 1st cousin, n even hes not giving such a discount... my point is, these designers dont budge much from their prices even if u r relative or freind... but u sug to go lahore or karachi n look arounf before u make yur final decision...

Zardozi is located in Liberty, Lahore. From the Hina thread I read that there is another one in Khi. The sister company is called Think Pink

Ooooh ladies!!

Thank you so much for helping me out. Appreciate it alot. Im at work right now so Ill read and look at everything in details when I'll get home.

Actually I think I will wair Maroccan dresses on my walima, somewhat like sidra posted, ellegant ones cuz I dont like rush too much. My hubby is Maroccan ;)
