Wedding lengha panic!

Unfortunately my in-laws got me a maroon lengha for walima, despite me wanting that red/traditional look for wedding day. So i went all out for wedding and chose a different combination for then.

I am now having such a panic, thinking I will not look like a real bride. I have ordered my lengha and the colours are: coral with a sea green border. It is a traditional looking lengha, quite heavy-ish with traditional looking embroidery. What do you guys think? Will I look like a real bride, is it a nice combination, have I made a huge mistake???

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

that's actually a very beautiful color combination... I think it's nice to switch things up and go for something out of the ordinary. Hardly anyone does the full on traditional red nowadays anyways.

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

You will look like a bride regardless of the colour you wear :-)

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

u could wear the valima outfit on ur wedding if you want...and wear ur wedding one on the valima. i don't think it should matter/altho i disagree that only red is the right color for brides

of course you will, i’ve liked the look of lighter colored bridals and most girls look better on their valima just bc the colors are a lot more delicate and dainty.

i’ve posted it b4 but i loveeeee this sushmita pic (the dress is neeta lulla)

it was a light colored bridal shot and it looked great or so i think

Nooo... Its not quite to my taste... I'm sure it'll look good on but I don't love it so don't want to wear it on wedding day as I know I won't feel happy. At least if I get my choice on wedding day I won't feel so bad wearing it on walima...

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

awww i duno why inlaws hafto be so dumb to choose colours like red or maroon for valima :S anyways dun worry i didnt like my valima dress but turns out everyone liked it alot with the makeup n all.....goodluck

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

^^ omg stylo my inlaws did the same mistake ..they got me a red maroon lehnga for valima day.. i didnt like it either :(

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

it'll be beautiful and you will definitely look like a bride! lots of girls wear something different on their wedding day and look amazing. red might be traditional but sometimes its nice to step away from the mould and do something fresh.

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

thanks everyone... you've all said stepping away from red is ok, but is coral and sea green a nice combo? i'm getting married in aug.. will it suit, is it in?

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

Coral and sea green is a great combo!!! They are the perfect colors for an august wedding...especially the coral.

Im a huge fan of girls who step away from the norm and dont do the head-to-toe red look. You dont have to wear red, wear a color you love and one that suits you...thats when you look like a real bride!

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

Agree with PSquared it sounds like a great combination for a late summer wedding. In fact I thibk it will actually look a lot better than traditional red at that time of the yr. Don't worry I'm sure you will look stunning!!

i remember someone i know got a maroonish wine colored Sobia Nazir color lehnga for her walima which was really pretty but got a red & copper one for her shaadi at the same time. i didn't think that was such a great idea but coral & sea green sounds fantastic! at least, the colors will be very different on both days.

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

i actually have seen someone wear an amazing gharara in coral and sea green...it was a really nice combination and she looked realllly good, so i'm sure you will too Inshallah

oh wow.. thanks, inshallah i wnt look strange then. u dnt happen to hv any pics of this person? wud love to see it in on someone as i just made up the colours on my consultation.

i initially wanted coral and red, but put together it looked strange. the sample piece i originally ordered from was green and red... was really stunning when i tried it on, but thought those colours are quite common in the uk this season. everyone is wearing them... so i literally sat with the colour chart and said... that one and that one... and waited for the designer to scream at me.. but he didn't so i ordered it!

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

^where did you order it from, if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Wedding lengha panic!

I ordered in the UK, didn't have time to go to Pak as I'm a teacher and only had 2 weeks off. also was worried bout the halaat there at easter time.

I ordered from Khushboo's by Chand in B'ham. we've known him for years and years and he has done some bridals for others in my extended family. He's never let us down yet and inshallah won't do this time...
